David says the Sword is made of Hardlight

, but it is made of plasma right? I guess this was just a mistake lol.

Really, hardlight makes more sense since it is called the energy sword, not the plasma (4th state of matter, not considered energy in itself) sword.

It really stands to reason whether Hardlight (being an impermeable solid in Halo fiction) is matter or energy.

Bungie, IIRC, says that the Plasma weapons aren’t shooting actual plasma but rather hardlight.

Duly noted.

…The hell? I thought it was explained that the plasma rifle used a hydrogen plasma. That also explains why its projectiles disappear after a certain range, because the magnetic field holding the plasma in place breaks down.

David made a mistake. Its made up of plasma contained within a magnetic field. It has always been this way.

You are right, Bungie never said it was hardlight. The other guy is wrong.

I never stated it to be hardlight, I only said that it makes sense to me. I still believe it to be made of plasma held up by a magnetic field with a plasma battery charge on it.

THIS ^

That’s all I wanted to hear lol. Before it sounded like you were implying that it was hardlight by supporting Ellis.

Man, let’s argue some Star Wars or something.

According to halo nation…

“The Type-1 Energy Weapon/Sword consists of a curved hilt, which houses an energy storage and generation device, as well as the blade projector; that forms a composition of two highly magnetic polar points that shape and hold a partially ionized, free moving electron based gas into a blade-like form , stabilized by two small magnetic field generators built into the handle of the weapon — this forms and contains the oval shaped, ionized blades for which the weapon is recognized.”

Friendly tip: unless you see the typed words “I think that David Ellis was correct by saying that the Energy Sword was made of hardlight”, assume that I believe otherwise, but agree to an extent.

Ummmm the darn thing is fictional people. It’s made of whatever they want it to be… Just sayin

The thing is that this might have been retconned with the mention of it being made of Hardlight. I’m relatively sure it’s still plasma-operated, like it always has been, but it’s not 100%.

Retconned!

(something being retconned doesn’t automatically make it a bad thing, only if that retcon interrupts previous important facts)

It is ionized air

It was a simple mistake. No biggie. I hope. Hopefully 343 doesn’t start treating cannon like Bungie did.

What do you mean by that?
