Data keeps resetting every time I restart the game

As the title says every time I close the game and open it up again my data (Customization, player ID, Playlists) resets (goes back to the default customization, goes back to the default settings in the player ID, and my playlists get reset back to 0/12 complete. Dunno what is going on but I am hoping that someone can help me out on the reasoning behind this and hopefully can help me fix this issue.

A little backstory leading up to this issue.

A couple days ago I decided to run through solo legendary, everything was going great until I got to this one achievement for the life of me wouldn’t unlock (I DIDN’T TRAIN TO BE A PILOT), I tried for over an hour and eventually just gave up when I saw that it just would not unlock for some reason. Skip to today, and I read somewhere that turning off the steam cloud, and deleting your save could remedy a fix for certain achievements misbehaving. So that is exactly what I did, I turned off steam cloud, backed up and deleted the save, and loaded into the game and was able to get the achievement finally to unlock.

Now here is where the issue starts, after getting the achievement I closed the game and restored my save after turning steam cloud back on, booted up the game but to be greeted by the default nameplate on the right and it saying I have customizations that are unlocked, I go into the campaign list and notice that all my playlists are now sitting at 0/12 completed for some reason. Thought okay maybe something goofed, so I tried to restore my save one more time, but alas ran into the same problem. I thought to myself well okay I’ll just play through the legendary playlist again no issues, but after I reset up my customizations and player ID. So I set up everything again to how I had it before and decided to test something, I closed the game again and re-opened it to be greeted once again to well everything reverting back to default.

So I went and tried several different times repeating the same process of setting up customization, my player ID stuff and then closing and re-opening the game. Every single time I re-opened the game I was always greeted with the default customization and player ID instead of it being what I had set it to before closing the game on top of every time I tested the playlist to see if it would stick it gets reset as well. I’ve tried turning the steam cloud off, I’ve tried deleting the save game and the settings, I’ve gone the route of logging in and out of the live account in MCC, I’ve even gone the route of reinstalling the entire game 2 different times. Nothing seems to be working.

I don’t have an xbox sadly to see if this issue is present there or not.

Playing on windows 10 x64 bit, on steam everything up to date.

Hope someone can help me out so I can get back to actually playing this game as this currently is making it very hard to do, especially if I want to complete the legendary playlist / laso playlist…

Its like it’s loading my save and then unloading it at the same time, as now I’ve gotten it to a point where when I first start the game up it loads up my old nameplate and everything and then after a few seconds it goes and is like nope and goes to the default nameplate along with resetting everything else.

I’m having the same exact issue. Some achievements were broken, I wiped all my saves, got the achievement, but all my customisations keep resetting themselves now.

How long did you wait before it magically fixed itself?

I’m having a similar issue my key binds keep resetting everytime on Halo CE I’ve closed and opened it around 4 times today across the whole day and everytime I have to redo my keybinds. That’s really stupid and needs to be fixed!

I’m having this too, but with halo 2 anniversary, not sure if it did this with reach when I played it…but I dont even own CE. If anybody has a solution, PLEASE share. I absolutely hate rebinding ALL my controls EVERY time I start the game. (:

As I replied in another thread about key bindings not saving, I’ve been having the issue since the CEA flight. I’ve noticed that it only happens if I change my bindings in some specific ways. So far I’ve noticed it happens every time I bind ZOOM to Shift. There may be other specific binds that cause this. A temporary fix may be identifying which binds mess it up and trying to play with different settings.

Do you remember how long it took before it fixed itself? I had similar issue as well, did the same thing as you to fix it and now the game does this. It’s not saving my playlist progress either now, so I gotta re-do the one I was working on…so I’d rather wait until it fixes itself so I don’t lose progress.

My solution seems to have been restarting steam fixed the issue for me, as whenever it decides to happen to me which it hasn’t in ages now I always seemed to have everything back after I restarted steam.

What happens if you have MCC off the Microsoft Store and not Steam? My armour customisation, clan tag, emblem, etc. are all resetting on startup. I haven’t found any way to fix it. Does anybody know how?

Had the same problem, turns out I forgot to turn file share back on for steam, downloaded the files from yesterday and it still didn’t work
Please 343, make a damn hotfix for Because You Begged instead of encouraging people to tamper with game files!

That bug is come back apparently got the same, I purged correctly steam cloud data because I was wondering if this was (/or not) the cause of corrupted/unloadable H:R LASO save.
But now IMPOSSIBLE TO SAVE CONFIG (unlocks in particular APPARENCE/NAMEPLATES/CAMPAIGN progress etc… AND MORE problematic H4 LOADOUT CONFIG) … Also the game re-demands every time prefered input. …alike if the game wanna says “no no dude don’t wanna work”

–Re news…pb auto solved by a sort of divine interaction…after restarting pc, no more messages for prefered input at game startup, saving configs/preferences and progression now re-works…
…satisfacted…but I remember this era when we could made a simple folder or .zip with all .ini/.cfg files to never lose its config and simply re apply it by a simple copy-paste for instantaneous and never failing working result.
Hoping never having this %*$! # “grrr” kind of problem…
