When Halo 5 launched the matchmaking was terrible if you lived outside of the U.S. so, with Halo Infinite coming next year I’m hoping 343i have changed their stance on this matter and will allow players to choose which Data Centers they would like to connect to.
A lot of EU players I played with and spoke to when H5 launched were not happy they were being placed in servers along the East coast of America. There was even a huge thread on the forums HERE this is a serious issue for non U.S. gamers.
The way I look at it is that Halo is a global product and as such, all players irrespective of location should be given the best experience available to them. If players want to play on other servers in other countries then they should be able to make that choice themselves and not be forced into it.
Like I said, I hope 343i have learnt from their mistakes with matchmaking in H5 and give us, the player, the option to choose which Data Centers we can connect to.
