Dat Firefight 3.0!

Sup bros I was wondering if you would want Halo 4 ODST and with that Firefight 3.0. Now I know that alot of you think that Spartan Ops is a good replacement well that’s probably because you’ve failed to see the potential in Firefight. Let me show you how I think Firefight 3.0 should be and hopefully I can change your mind about SPOPs being a viable replacement but keep in mind I really like Spartan Ops and I’m not saying Firefight is better I’m just saying it’s different than SPOPs and deserves a second chance.

Now my ideas for Firefight 3.0.

Objectives
Objectives are triggered at the end of the round and give points and credits to everyone who helped. These are the objectives.
-Escort and Protect the VIP
-Eliminate the High Value Target
-Defend a Convoy
-Ambush and Destroy a convoy while not damaging the goods inside
-Defend NPC allies
-Have no one die during the round
-Retrieve the hidden PDA
-Get X amount of kills with X type of weapon
-Achieve X amount of points
-Protect the Generator
-Point Race (Get a certain amount of points before your teammates do. Whoever gets first gets a prize)
-Capture the Objective (Capture a Hill, Flag, or hold an Oddball before time runs out)
-Build X amount of fortifications
-Spend X amount of credits

The Store
In the store you can purchase weapons, spartan upgrades, vehicles, and even NPC support with credits that you’ve earned these purchasables are rather expensive so you would be smart to look on the battlefield for something pretty before you spend all your money on one dress. You can access the store after every round in certain places in the map every round the store location changes so that you can’t stay in one spot forever.

Credit System
You can get credits to purchase items from the store by killing/damaging enemies, completing objectives, earning medals, and surviving waves.Credits aren’t shared for all players instead everyone earns and spends their own credits but if you’re a cool bro and another bro is asking for credits you can give him credits you can also trade weapons too.You can also buy back in if you die but it WILL cost you a good amount of dat cash monay.

Fortifications
You can build fortifications by first establishing a base and then purchasing the fortification. Fortifacations can be upgraded 3 times if you buy them enough times. These are the fortifications.
-Automated Turret (Auto Turrets that can be hacked into by certain enemy types)
-Turret (Turret emplacements that can be operated by everyone including the enemies)
-Barrier (To block less intelligent enemies from getting in)
-Outpost (Towers used as a vantage point)
-Surveillance (Auto Spots Enemies)

Skulls
Skulls work like mutators in Gears of War horde where the more difficulty increasing ones you put on the more points and credits you get and easy skulls take some away.

Day Night Cycle
The day night cycle changes the enemies that you’re faced with. During the day it’s the Covenant and Prometheans and at night it’s the Flood and Sentinels. With the dead bodies left over from the day fights the flood infection forms have plenty of dead bros to make some combat forms out of. Every set is 12 in game hours meaning that two sets is a day (obviously) so for the first set it’s going to be Coves and Brometheans and the second set is going to be Flood and Sentinels. During a bonus round there is no day or night and all hell breaks loose as all enemies spawn.

New and Returning Enemies
As you can see right above this it says “New/Returning Enemies” wait no right above that is me talking about Flood and Sentinels so I kinda wanted to talk about some new and returning enemies.

Spike Launcher Shotty snipe combo. 4 Shots.Charge to fire all shots at once like a shot gun or tap to fire them one at a time like a sniper rifle
Jackhammer Fully automatic UNSC shotgun. Low damage, high ROF, 20 rounds.
Gatherer Rifle Super powerful plasma pistol in the form of a forerunner beam weapon. You need to charge this weapon if you want a kill.It disables vehicles if charged half way or more.
Guardian Beam You know those turrets that are in the H4 campaign the forerunner auto turrets that shoot huge -Yoink- red beams? This is what they use.

If you don’t like this idea and rather have the original firefight then there could also be that classic firefight experience IN HALO 3 ODST ER MA GERD IF YOU DUN LIEK DA CHANGEZ DON PLEY SCRUBzZzZzZ AND ADAPT naw just kidding I think that there should be a classic Firefight mode that’s just like Halo 3 ODST.

I think that’s about it for now this took me like 4 hours because I’m watching Sp00ns stream right now so some feedback would be awesome!

EDIT!:Maps are on page two because I couldn’t fit them here.

Really cool idea, maybe we can have both in 5. That would be amazing!

I likes. Maybe 343 will do it. I remember before Halo 3 someone in the bnet forums suggested the idea of firefight before the game came out. I think he called it survival. Well bungie didn’t do it. Then gears of war came out and they had horde mode, very similar to this guys idea. Well then bungie put it in ODST.

Maybe 343 will listen to the fans more. I love firefight and horde and I think they are great additions to a game.

Thanks! I got alot of inspiration from horde for this. Also I think I may add some stuff to this thread later like perhaps some boss fights that could happen or a day/night cycle where by day it’s Covenant and Prometheans and by night it’s the Flood and Sentinels and every set is 12 hours (in game time of course it’s not actually 12 hours) so the first 12 hours is Coves and Brometheans and the next Flood and Sentinels.

Updated with the day and night cycle and new enemies!

Good ideas on the objectives. Don’t think you need “the store” and “credit system”, I think the ones already in Halo 4 with the loadout system work fine.

Skulls as “mutators” were already in Firefight, they just need to be put back in.

Maybe change the 3 wave cycle and the fortifications so they aren’t such blatant ripoffs of Mass Effect 3 and Gears

The objectives and fortifications could just be incorporated into the current Spartan Ops with a few tweaks. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a few of them actually, in the upcoming episodes. We’ve already had turrets to find and build in Episode 3, and a designated target.

A Spartan Ops mission to “hold a location”, that included turrets etc, and had pre-game lobby options to (rather than play it as a story) turn on a limited life pool, turn on unlimited waves and random enemy spawn would get you pretty close to some of what you are describing here.

Not a big fan of the store either. All guns should be on the map or scavenge-able… otherwise it turn into Zombies and you will have more people complaining about that.

I also liked firefight specificaly because there were NO SPECIAL OBJECTIVES… All you had to do was survive…

But as long as you can turn thoese options off, id be fine with it.

This might be a little ambitious when 343 says that we dont even want Firefight to begin with, but its something to work towards for H5

I don’t think the loadout system would would work for firefight but maybe that’s just me.

> Skulls as “mutators” were already in Firefight, they just need to be put back in.

Really? I’m guessing this was in Reach then because I didn’t know :stuck_out_tongue:

> Maybe change the 3 wave cycle and the fortifications so they aren’t such blatant ripoffs of Mass Effect 3 and Gears

But… but those are good games!

That’s what got me to make this thread actually.

That would be very limited to just a few maps that have been used already which would get very boring VERY fast.

Well 343i doesn’t seem too big on giving people options just saying but I would like to see an option to turn off all these settings and just play some classic firefight.

Looks like it would get an awful lot of play time, I’d even pay for it if they had to add it as a DLC.

-Full support

Wow dude thanks! I’ll add some maps, weapons, and even the full store list soon!

I liked ODST’s Firefight better than Reach’s SOLELY because of its multi layered skull progression, which you can’t do in Reach. I hope that comes back at least.

I’m pretty much in favor of any type of firefight that replaces Spartan Ops. Spartan Ops is kinda cool, but it has very little replay value in comparison to firefight.

Here’s what I posted in another thread:

"In ODST, the layout and atmosphere were much better. This was because the focus was put on survival rather than points. Remember Endure?

If they returned to that style and expanded upon it, Firefight could work again. What if there was a Flood mode for Firefight, too? That’d be cool."

As long as the atmosphere and style of ODST’s Firefight is maintained, then it will be amazing.

The suggestions you made are awesome, too. That’s what Reach’s Firefight should have been.

> Not a big fan of the store either. All guns should be on the map or scavenge-able… otherwise it turn into Zombies and you will have more people complaining about that.

The store is like the store in Killing floor so if they where copying anything it would be Killing Floor which btw is a great game and the system works amazingly well.

> I also liked firefight specificaly because there were NO SPECIAL OBJECTIVES… All you had to do was survive…

I liked that too and I hope they have an ODST Firefight mode.

> But as long as you can turn thoese options off, id be fine with it.

Well 343i doesn’t seem too great with giving people options.

> This might be a little ambitious when 343 says that we dont even want Firefight to begin with, but its something to work towards for H5

They said that? :frowning:

If 343i plays their cards right, Firefight, along with everything else we’re missing from previous games in Halo 4, will be featured in Halo 5 at launch!

> If 343i plays their cards right, Firefight, along with everything else we’re missing from previous games in Halo 4, will be featured in Halo 5 at launch!

I’m so exited for Halo 5 already Halo 4 is great and all but I knew it wouldn’t be the one Halo game to rule them all.

Looks more like a Spartans Ops then Firefight.
