So, I’ve been playing 4 this past week for the first time since December last year, after hearing about the big TU. Changes are somewhat minimal in my eyes, and the population seems to be just as low. However, the one thing that stands out to me; what the heck happened to the AR?! It feels ludicrously powerful now. o.o

Yeah, I feel like I see just as many complaints for “the AR needs buffed,” but I HATE it when I look at the recap after the game and see that 6 out of 8 players top weapon was the AR for 10+ kills. That just screams “spray and pray” gameplay to me, which just… ugh…

Damage increased (in line with the precision weapon damage boosts) but they greatly reduced the aim assist so spraying n praying is less effective.
You can’t just spray and pray now, the aim assist has been lowered, it’s nice because now it compares to the precision weapons

Well, specifically; it feels as if its power to range ratio has been improved/upgraded significantly, to a point where it feels on par with the BR, Carbine and LF. (Nice to see the DMR is still stupidly overpowered, but I’m not complaining.)
I’ve been using the AR in Team Slayer and Regicide as my secondary, along with the DMR as my primary and they work together so efficiently it’s unreal.
The weapon simply needed to be buffed when they made the BR a 4SK. None of the other weapons could compete.
The BR is a 4SK, the pre-TU AR couldn’t stand up to it, along with several other weapons, as much as it should as close range.
Even with the lowered aim assist, the gun is still a meat grinder at close range. I enjoy using it.

Judging the AR has always been the weapon to be ditched straight away, it’s really nice it can compete with other weapons
I played a game of Regicide the other day, lost to three jet-packing, AR-wielding players with 20+ AR kills.

Jet packing AR users (even pre-patch) are an evil breed up there with AC boltshot campers.
It is more powerful now, but it’s balanced. Aim assist was cut by 50%+. It’s still definitely a close range niche weapon with only moderate burst firing effectiveness, but it takes skill.

It’s not that noticeable… I swearn I get full autoed still halfway across the map…
Great to see the AR is now an actual viable primary weapon.

You’d expect a close range rapid fire weapon to excel in Regicide even if it was underpowered. Its a game type where everyone is running to 1 location so loads of people are low health and you can get close without any attention on you.

Can’t comment, I haven’t really noticed either way.
