"Dare To Love" Broke my Heart.

I’ve only read some of “The Fall of Reach”, and have had no interest in Halo novels since. However, I was genuinely disappointed to see “Dare To Love” was an April Fools joke (especially 'cause it was March 31st in my time zone).

I want to read that novel. Anyone else?

Ehh…I might have since I’ve read most of the novels. Romance isn’t my forte though. Still, Buck and Veronica have relationship I find somewhat compelling.

I would just love to see them do something completely out of left field (i’m not too hopeful for Halo’s main story given the current state of affairs). They could do it as satire, or play it completely straight. I know there isn’t really a good reason to do a Halo romance, but now that they’ve presented the idea I would just love to see it made.

It wouldn’t even have to be a full novel, just something short.

I understand you not being hopeful for Halo 6s story. Personally I have some hope, that they’ve gotten enough criticism and found the right writers that fixes stuff. If they further hurt the story, that’s bad news for 343.

Exploring the relationship in a short story might work. I’d go all out with the novel, like going with the subject in the first place.

I have a feeling Halo 6 will be everything we want in terms of gameplay. The multiplayer will be dope, they’ll (maybe) go with the Halo Wars 2 art style, and we’ll actually get a full custom games suite this time. Not to mention it’s coming to PC, finally!
In terms of story though, I think there’s just too much flaming garbage to really salvage any of it. They seemed to be trying so hard for a grandiose story of epic proportions that they just ended up with too much going on all at once. As much as I disliked Halo 4’s writing it was much more focused, and it sort of knew what story it wanted to tell.

Lol It had me going for a split second thinking it was going to be a real book and I was a bit excited for the novel thinking to myself, “Oh good this is exactly the kind of novel that would get my girlfriend to dwell deeper and want tonlearn more about the Halo universe!” Only to scroll down to the “cover art” and realize this has to be an April fools joke.

It’s even funnier to me because just days ago she bought me some mega blocks with the Fireteam Osiris featuring ofcourse Buck and I giving her a little background on each spartan and told her, that Buck was reluctant at first to join the Spartan program because he didn’t want to leave his woman Dare behind and she seemed interested to know more about them two.So to see the “Dare to Love” book was great timing on 343’s part.Great stuff!

My only thing is, does that mean the MC novel due out later this summer is also an April Fools joke? That I hope not and, is just plain mean if so lol!

Really looking forward to Bad Blood, and some huuuhe E3 announcements this year including about Halo tv series which was put back on my radar this year knowing it’s suppose to start production this fall!! Going to be excellent year for us Halo fans mo matter what!!

I would definitely read it. I don’t know too much about Buck (I’ve never played ODST) but he seems like a really great guy. I know he’s sort of played as the “comic relief” guy in Halo 5, or at least that seems to be the intention. He is always a little behind everyone, he doesn’t quite seem to make his jumps, and he’s always playing 2nd behind Locke, but it never came across as funny. Instead I got the impression of someone who genuinly is a Spartan not because he’s the best, but because he actually cares and believes in what Spartans represent.
To find out that he could have had a relationship with Dare makes me like him even more.

Man, you gotta play ODST. They changed Buck completely in Halo 5. In ODST he was like the Roast Commander. He would drop sick burns on people, and he was a no-nonsense kinda guy.

In Halo 5 he’s just the zany sidekick; basically Cayde from Destiny.
