I’m pretty sure he didn’t die. That was just an epic nap in Halo 3. He is also probably immune to halo rings. And when he woke up, he simply drove back to earth in a warthog. That is how I remember it anyways. On top of that, there are lots of super Johnson clones running around, getting captured, starting wars, appearing to die all the time.
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he showed up in Halo 4.
