Damaging armor?

Ok so in all halo games if you get into a 1v1, win, heal or recharge you most likely won’t gain a challenge in the next fight but what if we did something that weakened you in some form. Not a huge handy cap but just a little weaker.

Something Like armor damage. Like If you take tons of damage to your arm your shoulder pad may fall off. This makes your shields just a little weaker in your arm. Or if your shot in the head with out a shield but some how live your visor cracks making your screen cracked (yes like in lone wolf)

These are just examples that I think would make your life a living hell but would add challenge after challenge after surviving.
Note:This is just a example it could be Implemented in many other ways then the way I posted. So don’t be closed minded if you did not like my examples. Also This would not be in every playlist and could be turned off in customs.

How It could work in MM
There would be certain playlist (not all) where armor could be damaged but not rendering you in any way.
Then maybe one that would add armor damage and hindering.
In customs you can ether pick:No armor damage, Armor damage, or Hindering armor (where the armor falls off and hinders you.

For those saying this is not halo
How is it not halo?
How is certain things not halo just for not being in the game before hand?
The game changes and then what ever was added is halo,
brutes werent in halo ce so are they not halo,
elephants werent in halo 1 or 2 so are they not halo,
things you may say arent halo now may become the next halo fan favorite so never say it’s not halo.

This is one thing I’ve found that would be amazing! Although, hard to implement. But overall it would add allot more fun into having narrowly survived your previous engagement. I especially love the visor idea!

this sounds pretty cool actualy maybe their is a repair time for the armor pieces or you have to spend Cr on repairs.

Hohoho yes! Been waiting for someone to make a thread. I think this would be a great physical aesthetic. I’m not sure how hard it would to implement, since I think it was possible you could damage parts of Brute armor.

I’ve also been dreaming about a damaged visor in-game for so long now. And then, blood splattering,.

That would be soooo cash.

> this sounds pretty cool actualy maybe their is a repair time for the armor pieces or you have to spend Cr on repairs.

Hmm, I’d rather have it just simply there for aesthetics. Like, your armor only appears damage when you die, and then you’ll be good and new upon respawn.

Great idea. There should be an option to turn it off or on in campaign(because legendary is a -Yoink- as it is and some people might not like it in general) and custom games. Maybe you could have a little spartan display of your armor’s condition at the side of your screen. Say your arm gets damaged, the little spartan on your screens arm will go red.

This is an idea that sounds very awesome on paper, but not necessarily in-game.

Armor Damage would be very difficult to implement on each character, not to mention it would give an unfair advantage to the people who are already damaged. Over the course of a game, you’re bound to die if armor damage is activated in the way that you say in your original post, making long killing sprees and perfections nearly impossible to achieve.

We already have health to deal with and adapt to, if there was armor damage, we’d have another factor to worry about as well. If you have damaged armor, what do you do to repair it? Grab a health pack? Then its essentially just like health and not worth it. Have a 30 second repair time to heal your armor? Sounds like free kills to me.

Like I said, good idea on paper, bad if implemented.

However, if it was implemented just for aesthetic purposes, then yes. If it didn’t have an effect on gameplay, by all means. That would be awesome.

If Halo4 still has any type of armor ability like feature, a repair thing would be cool, the repair guy could heal him self and damaged guys on his or her team.

Essentially like a Medic? Then that would bring in a class system to Halo multiplayer, which would change the overall Halo experience.

But halo reach had a medic of some form?

No it didn’t? If you needed to regain your health, you either waited for it to recharge or grabbed a health pack. There wasn’t a player that healed you, essentially like a medic.

What about repair kits? If your shield is damaged permanently, you could pick up a repair kit to fix it. So, health kits for health, repair kits for shields.

Eh, I dunno. Think about it during gameplay. Would you want to worry about health and repair? Would health and repair packs be in the same location, or would they be in separate locations on the map? If they were next to each other, why not have one pack that does it all? Wait, that’s called a health pack…

Actually the drop shield gives health.

It doesn’t give health, it gives temporary protection.

Actually the drop shield does heal you if your health is low. Why do you think the loadout for it was always called Medic?

You’re right, it does give a small amount of health. However, the “medic” loadout is only available in Invasion, and it’s primary purpose isn’t to heal people. If a medic is implemented into Halo 4, it’s sole purpose would be to heal people, which would require a class system.

It may work but it couldn’t be in most playlist, it would have to be in a playlist of it’s own like a hardcore mode, it would be a interesting game type.

Not that it’s not a good idea but I think the whole health thing covers this. It would be better (imo) if it was just for look, and damaged your armor giving it a battered look and not take off armor. this would be dififficult to implement with hitboxes.

No thanks i want halo, not this.

this…
i dont want complicated stuffs in my halo. simple.
