Damage Stats in Infinite

I was very excited to see Damage back in the flights… and even more excited when they mentioned damage taken in one of the insights.

I think damage can be so much more informative than just KD (or KDA etc).

Hopefully we can delve even deeper with the API.

Damage divided into for and against. And then subdivided into damage that lead to a kill and that which didn’t.

Good players should be contributing damage to kills (but not necessarily being the one to finish them off) and taking lots of damage without dying.

The MVP would be player who does the most effective damage (that leads to kills).

The Finisher would be the player with most kills for least amount of damage.

The Sponge would be who took the most damage for the least number of deaths.

The Rampager would be whoever did the most damage in a minute.

The Engager is most initial damage to an enemy.

And so on. You could have even more fun if the API broke down damage by weapons, actions (eg. jumping or grapple slinging), and directions (eg. from behind), and vs players who are OS, Camo, or carrying power weapons.

It wouldn’t take long to relgate KD to the history bin.

Seeing your entire team have around the same number of assists feels so good. People talk about carrying games, but everyone having around the same damage is far more satisfying in my opinion. I am excited that the statistics are what they are in Infinite.

Yep. Love assists. They reflect well on team-work.

And damage takes us one step further. It would give us an exact number of who assisted with what.

Imagine the satisfaction of seeing everyone on your team taking a bite out of each kill.
