Is it just me or does the Damage Boost power-up not increase the amount of damage output enough.
Side notes:
I have not played on this account yet, if you look at my profile you will see I have played 0 games. I am playing on my temporary profile to get used to the game mechanics.
I’m loving the game, there are a few minor issues here and there, but overall I think it is the best Halo in years!
And yes, I know Orion will be no longer in the Slayer playlist, so we don’t have to worry about this anymore.
Nevertheless, the damage boost power-up does very little in increasing the amount of damage and I feel that it is pretty difficult to get the damage boost power-up. I have practiced in custom games to get the hang of it and now I usually get it in a rank match without committing suicide. Not only is it hard to make the jump, but it is also extremely risky. I have gotten the power-up numerous times and then the opposing team sees me on the platform and I am dead a few seconds later. To get to my point, there have been several times were I have used the power-up for the full duration and the damage increase is very minuscule. I have a pretty deceit shot, I would say around 10-12% of my overall kills are perfect kills. For the BR, I did not see an increase in damage, it still was 4 shots to kill. The magnum goes down to 4 shots instead of 5 shots. I’m not sure if the automatic weapons feel any more powerful, but to be honest, it is not worth the risk for the reward you get in the power-up. The BR should go down to at least 3 shots, the DMR and magnum should be 3 or 4 shots. That would make the risk, worth the reward. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe I’m missing my shots and I think it is taking the same amount of shots to get the kills.

Are you sure? I’ve used it so many times and I have yet to kill someone in 3 shots. Maybe I’m just bad, I don’t know. In all the times that I have had it, I’ve only had the sniper once. I have killed someone with one shot with the sniper, but I’m pretty sure the player had already taken damage from one of my teammates, so I’m not sure if it would have killed him in one shot.
Either way, it is the hardest power-up to get and has the highest risk in keeping it. The overshield on Regret and The Plaza have very little risk and a high reward, likewise the Camo on Fathom and The Rig. All the other power-ups guarantee you at least one kill except for the damage boost. Can you agree with me there?
You have to practice to get it and I highly doubt you get it 100% of the time without committing suicide or getting killed by the other team seconds after activation.
And yes, every time I play Orion I get it 2 or 3 times in a match because I am the only person who knows on how to get it. I always see people doing it the wrong way and it’s hilarious.
I have only grabbed it once or twice and the bonus damage didn’t seem worth the risk. I’m not really worried about it though. Some people will find a way to use it and some won’t. I probably won’t honestly

It makes a difference, I just feel that people don’t see it because it’s in Warzone and they’re too worried about everyone and everything else going on around them

It seems to work better with certain weapons. Precision based weapons work well with it, however, I have not seen it make a big difference with weapons like an AR.

Based on my experience, precision weapons don’t work that well at all. The BR seems to still take 4 shots to kill, whereas the magnum seems to take one less shot (4 shots as well). One person said it was 3 shots instead of 4 for the BR, but even if that is the case it does not make much of a difference unless it is in a one on one situation. Correct me if I am wrong, but in Halo 4 it was 2 shots to kill with the BR if you had damage boost activated. As I mentioned earlier, for the risk that it takes there should be a greater reward. One shot less is not very effective. Two shots less is much more effective and it makes it worth the risk. I highly doubt they are going to change it because it does not seem like a hot topic and to be honest it’s not that big of a deal. I just thought I should mention it because it is pretty useless and I would love for it to be useful because I am one of the very few players in matchmaking that is willing to take the risk to get it on Orion.
Good things should be a challenge to get, it’s unfortunate that it is not very good once you get it…
Its use on foot is minimal IMO. But get damage boost Rocket hog or oni warthog and its pretty devastating. its effects are more pronounced with high damage low fire rate weapons
