So after a few frustrating days on the matchmaking front, I wanted to get some information regarding the daily XP cap that 343i seems to have imposed to keep things “fair”.
What exactly is the cap?
What happens to commendations earned during a match in which you reach your cap? In a match earlier tonight, I earned one of the 10k XP commendations during a match in which I must have capped out. Are those points just gone? Will they apply to my account tomorrow?
What time does the cap reset?
In my opinion, these are all things that should be made clear (if not in game, at least in a comprehensive sticky here on the forum). They don’t even tell you you’re approaching or have reached the cap–you could play for hours and have no idea that it’s essentially all for nothing.

I have to agree, it seems the majority of players are in the dark when it comes to XP rules.
I think they were hoping most people would resume a normal life and go to work, go to school, go outside, or hang out with friends in the physical world once in a while as well.
Initially it was reseting at midnight local time, and the game was recieving said local time from the xbox’s local settings, and what resulted was people changing the time zones on their xbox’s to get around the cap. That’s why they changed it to reset globally for everyone at the same time.
So no, at present time, there is no way around the cap.
One strategy to speed things up that I was using is constantly checking the progression on my various commendations. If say I was creeping up on finishing say my last DMR commendation worth 10k xp, I would get close to it, then stop using DMR until my xp cap reset, so that way I could just get a few kills after the reset and not waste my 10k xp for it.
Cap is STUPID - I can’t play much during the week but I play like a madman on the weekends, there is no double XP offer here and i’m hitting the cap… so in effect my ‘Rank’ does not reflect the hours I put in and I would like to get access to the spec perks sometime this century.

I agree. The cap was dumb, and should of never been implimented.
But the cap is there to try and keep the player base. Without people would have hit top ranks (70 without the specs code) within the week, and they’d have traded in for BLOPS2. They knew full well the only way to keep so many people playing was to keep progression slow.
