So after about four years without the game, I picked up my old copy of Halo: Reach a couple months ago since I can now play it on my Xbox One. I’ve really been enjoying it, and I love doing daily challenges every day and checking them all off the list. The past week, however, I haven’t been able to do that.
For some reason, every time I exit the Halo: Reach app on my XB1, I go back and see that my Daily and Weekly Challenges are all back to 0, even though the credits I’ve earned are all still there (if I complete a challenge like Sticky Icky Icky or something.) This is concerning for several reasons. One, I don’t want to cheat the credit system and get banned for it (I’ve held off on playing on multiple occasions to avoid accidentally re-completing an already completed challenge.) Two, for the big ones like More than a Handful and Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, I just can’t complete them anymore. I get halfway or 1/10th of the way there and then I watch a show or turn off the console because I’m leaving my house and then boom, back to 0. My XB1 is basically my TV with apps like Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube, and I can’t just keep my Halo: Reach open 24/7 without using any other app, you know?
Is there a reason this is happening to me? It may have something to do with the fact that I was banned for a day a couple of weeks ago. I made the mistake of idling in Grifball games like I’d been seeing my teammates doing, which I shouldn’t have done because I didn’t realize it was cheating. Did something goof up when they took down my ban? This would have been sometime last week, probably pretty close to the time that this cR glitch started happening.
I just want to reiterate that I’m NOT cheating. I’m not trying to cheat the system, I’m not unplugging anything or tampering with anything. Every time I try to Google “Halo Reach Credit Reset” it just takes me to a cheating How-To page, instead of a solution. Sorry for the longwinded post. Any help or guidance is appreciated.
Just happened to complete the previous weekly challenge three times and I’m fine… that weird challenge reset isn’t new, he is just back and I don’t know myself why.
It’s not because of the way a player behave for me, it’s a bug and I don’t think we can do something.

So people who experience this bug just never get to complete a weekly challenge ever again? Unless they marathon for 8-10 hours straight?
I hope a Bungie monitor sees this forum because I was wondering the same thing and I posted my own forum about it

(at least daily) challenges reset I tried, you must finish them without leaving the game… not bad for campaign challenges because you can save first and for kills, there is always a place where farming is good.
LASO don’t last long, I finish them in 1/2 hours (and you can save & quit to bypass Iron that’s it) .

Note the death count and the mission time reset if you save & quit.
Really, campaign challenges are fast…

Yeah, I managed to complete three of the daily multiplayer challenges today. But the weekly challenge is also multiplayer, win 50 games, and it’s for over 30k cr. I want those credits so bad, and it’s one of my favorite challenges, too! (Second to the 200 multikills challenge.) But the most I can win in one sitting is like 5, maybe 6, and then I have to turn off the console or do something else, and there’s no way I can do it in one sitting. Maybe later this week I’ll use a day off to marathon for a few hours and try to get it in one sitting… It just sucks. I wish Bungie or whoever’s in charge would fix it.
The game is broken so why the heck would we be punished for a flawed/broken system?
This has been going on for about two weeks now, that I can remember. Rather annoying, actually, since my work schedule kinda prevents me from playing in uninterrupted segments of time, so I keep unintentionally re-earning dailies by simply playing the campaign because I want to revisit it and have to save and quit at some point, and it’s impossible to get a weekly unless it’s really easy, like the current one.
Bungie doesn’t work on the Halo games anymore, it’s all on 343i, including keeping Reach’s servers running and fixing bugs. This is on their plate to fix, and they either don’t know about it or don’t care. I’m gonna guess it’s the latter, if it’s happened before and they’re probably more interested in patching and maintaining Halo 5.
I’ve been experiencing the same thing for a couple of weeks myself like everyone else. I’ve done certain daily challenges at least 3 times (I often go to my game dvr for sharing/editing which quits the game) unintentionally, so I don’t think anyone’s getting banned for it.
A fix would be nice, since it seems trivial that me and a couple of friends can now farm the firefight weekly challenge (and since we can cause the ai not to spawn, it’s literally just a waiting game for 10 minutes) as many times as we want, assuming we don’t hit the credit limit. I doubt that’s going to happen though, since 343 still has tons of plans for Halo 5.
