First off, welcome to Halo.
I hope you are having fun playing the game.
Just play the game and have fun. Don’t try to do anything. At least, that works for me. Having fun makes the game much less frustrating and much more enjoyable. As for tips to get more kills, that really depends on how you play. You can view videos on youtube of some matches and watch how they play to learn or you could just jump in the game and play until you get better.
I’d say if you want to learn how to get kills easier, not more, but easier kills, go into BTB and camp with the Sniper Rifle. Another thing I did to learn some proficiency in weapon usage was to force myself to use each weapon. I’m not afraid to pass up a Plasma Pistol. If it is right next to Rockets, it is gonna stay on the ground, but if I need a weapon, the PP is a powerful little guy when used correctly.
Learn headshots by playing SWAT. Learn how to adjust for lag in Grifball. Learn team communication (if you are lucky to be in a team you know or have people that talk).
Try different controls schemes. I use bumper jumper with a sensitivity of 6-8 and inverted look. Works for me.
Good luck out there in Halo World.
It’s Halo World. Halo World. Party time! Excellent! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woooooo!
Alright… Excellent.

Wow i see what movie you enjoyed during middle school lol.
OP just play YOUR game. Dont try to be like others who might play this game 10 hours a day. What Easy has posted is the best method honestly. If you only get 7-10 kills a game thats not a bad thing. Is it nice to have the top k/d in a game…sure…but its not everything.
The group ive started playing with has many ppl who are better then me. Ill average 8-10 kills a game with them whiles the others have 12-18 kills. It doesnt bother me because my kills will more often then not help the group. Once you find your groove just stick with it and you will do fine.
> I’ve been playing Halo: Reach off and on for the past month and I think the most kills I’ve gotten is 12. I was so happy when I finally got a double digit kill, but seem to have plateaued there. I’m trying so hard to hit 20 or higher, but it just hasn’t happened! I’m in college so I don’t always have time to play, but when I do, I usually play multiplayer games.
> Anyway, if anyone has any tips for specific maps during big team battles, or with certain weapons, driving, helpful free downloads, whatever, I’d appreciate them very much.

First let me say: Welcome to Halo! hope you are finding the game fun like all of us do.
Now as the guy above me said:
> First off, welcome to Halo.
I hope you are having fun playing the game.
> Just play the game and have fun. Don’t try to do anything. At least, that works for me. Having fun makes the game much less frustrating and much more enjoyable.
This is true, play the game for what it, a game, dont stress your self, yes you are new to the game it is only natural you arent yet used to it, but the longer you play you will progress skillwise, after all practice makes perfect.
For tips about how to earn more kills, well that really depends on your style, are you a mid/close combat player or do you prefer long distances, are you a vehicle lover? all of this have to be taken into consideration.
However there is a very important thing you need to do if you really want to improve and that is to LEARN THE MAPS! the best way to do this is by using forge to explore the maps, learn where the power weapons are, advantage points, and overall move aroudn the map and find places to fall back onto when you are under fire to avoid death.
Next you would benefit a lot form playing CUSTOM GAMES with some people, I am more than willing to play with you, try to get better people than you to play against they can give you tips while in game and even show you them, playing customs will get you used to the weapons so that when you hop into MM you will know how to use the wweapons more accurately.
Camping is another strategy but not all weapons allow for it, Sniper is a long range weapons and a 1 hit kill if you heashot I suggest you practice with it, or Shotty for CQC, learn what weapons are better for different scenarios, so you can have the upper hand when facing them.
Communication is also a key factor in Halo, since you can alert others abotu th eenemy location and likewise you can be alerted, call fo help when in a battle or just pick off a weakened enemy that is 1 shot that just killed a team mate.
But int he end it really comes down to this, Have fun, dont stress your self, play regularly so you begin to get used to the games mechanics.
Once more welcome to Halo, and enjoy your stay!
I as well would be pleased to run some customs and help you out. In the end, Halo’s all about the community rather than being super good at it, but I can see why you’d want to bring up your skills a little as well.
One thing that really helped me was lowering my sensitivity down to 1. That really helped with the way I tend to jerk around the thumbsticks and still lets me shoot accurately, give it a shot. Past that part, you’ll just need to form some good habits to get better. In the end, skill doesn’t matter in having a great time in Reach; you should be placed into your respective skill group by TrueSkill (though that system could really use an update) once you play enough.
Great to meet you Suki! If you want to learn how the weapons and such work I suggest either Firefight or Forge for some target practice. Covenant vehicles are pretty straight forward, but in vehicles such as the Warthog or Mongoose I suggest tapping the brakes a bit when going over hills or doing sharp turns to keep from rolling over or catching too much air time. Play to your strengths even if it means holding back or sticking with a partner sometimes. For the most part though just go out there and have fun! Yes winning is fun, but it should never be taken so far that losing can’t be fun too.
Well if you don’t mind trying out a new play list I’d say go for Multi Team; there’s more people to kill.
Mutli Team is good, if you go in with 2 other people. Playing as a random in Multi Team isn’t a very good time sometimes.
I think playing a random in BTB is the most fun. You are one out of 8. More for the enemy to shoot at. More for you, as well.
welcome to halo.
the tips above are all very good, I dont have much to add other than dont rush into battles . pick your fights and try to stick with at least 1 of your teammates. dont take it to seriously though, after all it is a game and games are meant to be fun.
Play the campaign if at least on Heroic. Get to know the physics and weapons. Try to beat any difficult section yourself. Try new things if one strategy doesn’t work the first few 50 tries before asking for help. But at the same time, ask to play with 3 other players on Heroic. There will be enough enemies for everyone and your partners can give support and tips about weapons and their use during the appropriate sections.
Then you can hop into FireFight or Multiplayer. For either, you need to know how the weapons work or no amount of map movement will help you learn to play. The campaign will teach you the basics of what you need use online further.
I also think that a campaign run will help you find your weapon or playstyle of choice. You’ll learn what precision weapon you like most and what heavy weapons give you the most satisfaction for the kill.
And I would say that is key to your experience online. Knowing what weapon and playstyle you prefer and learning how they work in each map in Reach. It’s not a matter of being the best, it’s a matter of playing to the best of your fun-abilities. There is no one way to play Reach but your way.
> Thanks, all of you. I have become familiar with where a few of the weapons are located on a three or four maps, and that is definitely helpful. I am good at communicating, and actually prefer it because it helps my teammates out and tends to make up for my lack of experience. I’ve found that I like close range kills, but have been forcing myself to try sniping and splattering people as well. I would continue with the solo campaign but it automatically saved in a terrible spot where I’m out of ammo and have no other weapons around me to pick up. sigh.
> Anyway, thank you all very much. And I definitely don’t take the game too seriously - I laugh every time somebody manages to sneak up on me and assassinate me or sticks me with a grenade. But still, it’s always nice to get a few pointers!
That’s sweet! Of course, don’t try to force yourself into a different gameplay style, I’m friends with quite a few friends who prefer close-range combat and are quite good at it, too. It’s always good to try out different things though =)
As far as campaign goes, you can restart the mission or get together a game of co-op and run through it quickly so that you can get to the next part of the story. Your call, if you’d like to do the latter, I’m happy to help =)
What playlist do you frequent? I’d advise something like Multi Team where you can go crazy with your nades and melee and you will rack up huge amounts of kills, I guarentee it.
If you are a good communicator, it is a massive asset to any team so keep on talkin. You may not have the highest score, but everyone will enjoy playing with you.
Reaper had good advice for you 2. Play on Campaign on Heroic. It will get you into the Halo vibe more than any other difficulty.
Above all, enjoy yourself and learn from others.
Sword base = sword + Armor lock + DMR/Shotgun/grenade launcher = easy 20+ kills
Paradiso = banshee + skill = easy 35+ kills (0 deaths)
Break points = ^rinse and repeat
Haemorrhage = Sniper + camo = easy 20+ kills
Power house = hammer/grenade launcher/shotgun + armor lock = easy 15+ kills
…and so on. invis + sniper or armor lock + cqc weapon = easy kills, and camping is the name or the game (sorry, but that’s sadly the way Reach is meant too be played right now)
Dude dont listen to these guy telling you not to try. Your asking for adice on how to get better and get kills. this is why ill give you some tips that will take time to perfect but they are good.
1)Strafing: When you get in a 1v1 battle move from side to side with the left thumbstick and shoot at the person. It makes it tougher for them to shoot you, but it also makes it tougher for you. But the more you practice the better youll get and you will start strafing effortlessly.
2)Grenades: How you use your grenades is important, here are some tips. If you play big team or team slayer or any playlist with a radar your nades will be awsome. Always use your radar, your radar is your friend! alot of people think it takes no skill to use it but it really does. If you are coming into a room and you see a red dot in your radar thats behind you or to one of the sides quickly bounce a grenade of the wall next to you and be ready to pop them in the head.
Never throw a grenade in the middle of a fight unless the person is running away up or you went to another room or are behind cover.
Best thing to do is when you see someone, throw a grenade first then shoot them.
Try not to stick someone after you both have meleed each other, the best thing to do is try to shoot them in the head.
.
If you are fighting someone and he sprints away into a corner DO NOT CHASE HIM, EVER. Most likely as soon as he turns that corner or jumps down he will bounce a grenade that you will walk into and he will kill you. Or you will be killed by him and his teamates. Best thing to do is throw a nade or let your teamates know that theres a one shot running to (insert call out here)
3)Call outs. Always use your mic. I hate going into matchmaking and people dont hae a mic. It is very useful. Call outs are used to let your teamtes know where the enemy is coming from or where they are located. The best type of call outs you can use are:
If the enemy is by where a power weapon spawns use that as your call out, you can also use landmarks as call outs. i.e Reflection, Theres a red by rocket spawn. Or they are all coming from shotgun spawn.
If a level has multiple levels and you know where both teams spawn use them as call outs. i.e countdown. There all coming from 2nd floor blue spawn.
If a level has lifts you can also use these as call outs. i.e Sword Base, There coming up from green lift. or they are taking red lift. You can also add what level they are on. If they are at the bottom where they take green lift to go up you say they are at bottom green, and if they already took it you can say they are in top green.
You can always make your own with your friends or you can use the ones given to you in the bottom of your screen.
4)Power weapons! Try to controll these the whole round the name should pretty much say why. Also i believe all weapons in team slayer and big team spawn after 3 minutes of being picked upso make sure you look at the countdown in the bottom left hadn corner.
This is all i have for you right now. Im sure theres alot more and i will lwt you know when i think about them. Good luck
