Cyclops idea

Jump jet cyclops for the ODST. Missile cyclops. Gauss gun cyclops.Artillery cyclops. Is it a good idea or bad idea.

Might make more sense to use the Mantis for that.

agreed, though I had an idea for a fan-fic exo-suit that was built to counter the Mantis I call it the Titan. I was entertaining the idea of adding break away hard paneling for atmo insertion similar to SOEIVs…not sure how to go about doing it though

To me the cyclops can be more creative in battle then the Mantis. Cyclops has hand so if it run out of ammo. It con use objects as weapons. And it can be customize for different battles.But that’s just my opinion.

Are you kidding me? The mantis seems just plain slow and not very maneuverable to me but the cyclops, aww man the ODST one sounds awesome. Maybe it’s because I just totally like the idea of ODSTs in the first place (you should see my room) but maybe it’s just because this guy is creative and doesn’t stop with just one type of cyclops.

Yep, one of the reasons I don’t think it would be faster than a Mantis. Little stubby legs.

I’d like to see more done with the Cyclops than the Mantis preferably, especially with all the variants of released by Mega Bloks. Being mostly a non-combat vehicle that can be re-purposed for it should the need arise, I’m surprised we haven’t had any in the media since Halo Wars. Would think the UNSC would at least be using them for construction and other heavy lifting needs.

For Halo 5, I’d like to see the Mantis removed and replaced by 2 different mechs, one of those being a Cyclops. It can serve as a light vehicle, but take the recharging shields from the Mantis to make up for it’s weaker armor. Have it be a close to mid-range vehicle, defaulting with a machine gun, but having variants similar to the Mega Bloks ones such as flamethrower, arc lightning gun, missile launcher, or even Gauss cannon. Maybe even have it able to exchange its weapon with those of heavy turrets and destroyed vehicles, allowing players the option to change up tactics in combat. Being the close combat and light vehicle I brought up before, it should have more mobility than the Mantis had. Have it be able to travel faster than the Mantis, and even could give it its own thrusters, that tie into the player’s controls, and should have a one hit kill melee fitting for it’s building destroying talent in Halo Wars. As for a drawback, it has that see through view port. I think a sharp shooting player should be able to fire through the glass and kill the pilot, making it available for other players to take. And while the glass doesn’t fix itself, the shields would offer a slight bit of protection for whomever takes it after. Also, how cool would it be if the Cyclops could do finishing animations to damaged vehicles, similar to assassinations.

As for the other type of mech I mentioned, I would like it to be the one we see on Adrift, so 343 wouldn’t even have to design anything new. It was dubbed the “Cyclops Mk II”, though personally I feel it should be called a Minotaur, fits the Greek monster theme with the Cyclops, and it has bull-like legs as well as a bull-shaped head/cockpit. The mech would be designed as the opposite of the Cyclops I described, which was light and speedy, while this one would be heavy and lumbering. It wouldn’t have shields like the Mantis, but would have heavier armor like a Scorpion or so. It’s weapons I feel should be able to be changed up when spawning, similar to the difference between the Warthog, Gauss-hog, and Missile-hog are just the turrets, with this each arm should be selectable in forge, and even able to be destroyed in combat. The weapon options I picture:

Right arm: For the mech’s light weapons.

  • Machine gun - Similar to the Mantis and other machine gun vehicles.
  • Autocannon - A two-burst cannon, small delay between burst, and have a small radius at impact.

Left Arm: Heavy ordnance.

  • Large Missile Pod - As is already pictured with it. Similar to Mantis.
  • Mortar Cannon - Large explosive, maybe hold to charge for longer range, some delay by travel arc.
  • Mini MAC - One hit kill, able to penetrate multiple targets (players, vehicles, decorative and destructible environment), 3-5 second charge time before firing, forced stationary stance while charging.

Main body:

  • Small swarm missile pods - Much like Hydra rockets except do not lock onto players but locks to vehicles, fire in initial small arc from top of body and head to where cross hairs were at time of firing. 6-10 rockets before reloading. Much like how my Cyclops has thrusters, this takes place of that function. And if the arm weapons are destructible, the pilot would still need to be able to do something to protect themselves.

This would be a true heavy vehicle, lower maneuverability but armed to the teeth, but as with the tanks, there should be a weak spot or two in the rear for when boarding, or just from a skilled marksman. And on the topic of boarders, it should have a melee stomp, like the Mantis, for those that ill-timing their boardings.

Both of these would be a lot of fun in vehicle gametypes.

Like the idea, but we already have the Mantis. I hope we eventually see some Halo Wars vehicles (Like the Vulture) In future Halo games.

ODST need a mech suit like the cyclops. Because the Spartan 4 are stealing their jobs.
And the cyclops could save the ODST from being obsolete. If ODST did get their own cyclops what would it need. First it needs it’s own drop pod. Second it needs shock exorbitant And it needs boosters and thrusters so it can move fast and jump high. Gerd it needs weapons. What kind of weapons. Does anyone have any ideas.

And yet it takes the mantis more time to walk. Funny how that happens.
