Cutscene graphics change?

Something I was curious about. In CEA, if a cutscene began, you were either stuck in 2001 mode or 2011 mode based on what you were on when you started it. With the power of th XB1, will we be able to see the graphics change during a cutscene?

Yes. It was confirmed during IGN’s Halo coverage during E3 that in Halo 2 Anniversary at the least, you will be able to go back and forth between 2004 cinematics and 2014 cinematics. However, there was no mention of CEA getting that same upgrade. I’m still uncertain as to how they got that working for Halo 2 Anniversary considering the cutscenes will likely be quite a bit different than they were in Halo 2. So switching back and forth would probably cause some screw ups, which is why the feature wasn’t in CEA.

Im pretty sure only H2A is getting that treatment. Regardless, I have no intention of going back my first play through, I want to see those beautiful redone CGI cutscenes.

I think they confirmed that we could somewhere.

Agreed. I want to see X1 Halo 2 in all of its HD glory. I may swap back at certain points, like High Charity which had one of the best backdrops, but that’s about it.

The remastered cutscenes appear to be pre-rendered CGI videos, so if switching during a cutscene exists, that will be interesting to see.

Here is a link to information about the Halo 2 cutscenes.

“Renowned CG cutscene studio Blur is handling the do-over on all of the Halo 2 cutscenes”

It also says “including a brand-new non-playable prologue and epilogue that will “contextualize the Chief’s journey in [Halo] 1-4, and also set up a bit of what to expect in Halo 5”

This to me sounds very interesting.

If I had to guess, it would probably be like the E3 trailer, where it shows Agent Locke watching it all on a screen and being like “Now I can find Chief”.

That is my guess as well.
Possibly cinematic shorts broken up over the other games in the collection. Probably as rewards for completing each game that offer more backstory for Locke.

But also it could tell more backstory of the chief or even the arbiter. Similar to what we saw in the threshold terminal.
As well as in the trailer we saw the Arbiter through Locke’s visor so it could possibly explain the story behind Locke and the Arbiter meeting.

Wow switching from 2004 cinematics to nowadays CGI graphics will look impressive.
