First off, I enjoy Halo 5 thoroughly, and I can’t wait for the December update. This list is in the extremely slim hope of 343i abandoning/Improving these useless/underwhelming features in future titles.
ADS/SMART-SCOPE/SMART-LINK - Probably the most unnecessary change in Halo 5. Is it game-breaking? No. However, its inclusion baffles me. Was there something wrong with the traditional aiming system? No. In fact, it was even quite unique to the Halo franchise. The Smart-Scope system covers a vast amount of real-estate of the players vision. Does it inherently behave the same? Yes, but the visual obstruction is personal nuisance. Cut the fat.
SPARTAN INTROS/OUTROS - Honestly, if we had the option of customizing your spartan’s behavior pre-game and post-game, I would be content with this addition. Once again, is it needed? No. Ultimately, if the lobby system was heavily improved upon (i.g seeing fellow spartan armor, commendation completion, stance, etc.), this inclusion would never have made it past the conceptualization phase. Cut the fat.
REQUISITION SYSTEM/ARMOR - Obviously, 343i chose quantity over quality to synchronize with the Requisition system; consequently, there are only about 15-20 sets of armor that are seen as exceptionable based upon personal preference. As for the Requisition system, it’s simply not appealing to me. Working towards a specific piece, with a specific task, yields a superior satisfying feeling compared to an RNG based system. Also, the depth of customization, unfortunately, had to be simplified. As I understand, Reach was a widely despised game, but many can agree, Armor/Credit System was something it nailed. Cut the fat.
God, I want to support this game. I want a community to support this game. With a better allocation of time and resources, I believe 343i could have produced a superior product. Obviously, there are things that should have been added such as game-types, firefight/spartan ops, social playlists, etc. but this list contains some personal grievances of 343i. Deal-Breaking? No, but First Impressions are everything. I would like 343i to, Cut the Fat.
