Cut Brute Weaponry in Halo 2.

I noticed while playing Halo 2 Anniversary, that I’ve come across a few Brutes using human shotguns. I know in Halo 3 that they used Maulers, but they use shotguns here. Again, I noticed the Brute Plasma Rifle is basically a re-skinned version of the regular Plasma Rifle (obviously), and it also has the same fire rate and damage as a Spiker. Brutes don’t even have a correct animation for holding a Covenant Carbine; they hold it with one hand as well as the shotgun, which requires the user to pump. Later on in Halo 3, they made it where Brutes hold the Covenant Carbines with both hands. I know that the Brutes were keeping human tech as trophies, but why didn’t they do that in all the other games? This makes no sense. Is this a revision/retcon? Was it where Halo 2 was so rushed at the time of development?

I’m interested, because I didn’t ever notice all this back in ’04.

You answered your own question twice there… Yes it is technically a retcon, and yes, it is because Halo 2 was rushed.

Brute weapons are great for Infection gametypes, because the humans could use a Plasma Rifle and Energy Sword, whereas the infected could use Brute Plasma Rifles and Infected Energy Swords.
