Customize Plasma Colors (If Loadouts Return)

Just got this idea and thought I’d share it with you guys.

First off, I want you guys to know I do not support loadouts. I have a strong dislike for them and I think Halo would be better off without them.

But, if they do return, I was thinking it would be cool if we could customize the color the plasma weapons can shoot. We already have weapon skins, why not add this feature?

Imagine shooting a red plasma rifle (if it returns). Or a blue plasma pistol. It would be pretty cool, huh?

Thoughts?

I don’t know. Seems kinda weird to have. It’s cool, but It may be a bit distracting.Maybe for custom games.

Uhhh…Cool but not sure how I feel about the idea for multiplayer, don’t get me wrong, love the idea but not sure where and how to implement it.

Yeah, maybe it can be a custom game feature only.

All the people that oppose this simply oppose change for the sake of opposing it. (Seriously, in what capacity could this possibly be distracting?)

I don’t like loadouts at all either, but if we have them 343 might as well go all out.

I don’t know if this would be too good of an idea, we have to remember the complications that could arise with how players diffrentiate weapons based on their projectiles.

The Plasma Pistol fires a bolt of green Plasma, everyone knows that and that is like a sixth sense for most of us. However, if someone were to have a Plasma Rifle that shoots out green bolts of Plasma… How would that effect gameplay?

Surely there would be some huge confusion amidst the players, it would ultimately disrupt the game to the point of where players don’t know what the hell is being shot at them!

Kilo I don’t think people oppose this just to oppose it, but simply don’t know how to implement it. I say this just because this to me is new and original. I’ve never seen a topic like this discussed here on the forums, and I could see why this would be distracting too because the fact is having the whole rainbow of colors flying around the map could be a bit distracting.
Regardless, I’m not against this one bit I actually like this idea.

I honestly don’t think that people take the time to consciously identify what sort of projectile is headed their way; in any case it doesn’t change how you retaliate, not to mention that the only time PPs are ever used are in overcharge mode, which is fairly easy to differentiate from, say, storm rifle shots.

Thanks for the civilized response
Back on topic, I get your point, but we already have green, blue/purple, orange, yellow, pink , and white (so pretty much every color besides black and brown), and not as if that has had any great impact on gameplay, so I don’t see why adding the option to differentiate colors based on preference could have such a negative impact.

Good point, I could see why it wouldn’t impact gameplay, now thinking about what you said.

It’s a nice idea…but…it will end up as paid content…and that’s sad ;(

buying a game for a full-game-price with loads of crap included…and then you need to pay to “activate” them. (sometimes a 15sec photoshop skin color change you know…)

…truly sad -.-

I don’t know. It could be confusing. The colors have been the same for so long and I don’t know how my reflexes would react to this.

That and that the UNSC and Promethean weapons would be missing out. They would need some kind of equivalent to this.

I would rather have the color correspond to your team color, easier to find the moron on your team that keeps throwing horrible team grenades.

Then again, I see no reason for that changing it either way or giving it any form of customization.

#1 thing for the next Halo, it MUST play well for Multi-Player, game-play comes first and foremost, visual and extras come after the fact. Halo has taken a huge hit since Reach released, it needs to bring back its fan base, and adding customization and add-ons over game-play is not going to fix anything.
