Customize Armor/Weapon Skins

Well, doesn’t hurt to be creative, but in you own opinion, do you want a feature, where we can customize skins for both Armor and Weapon?

My opinion:
For armor, we would be given 20 to 25 different skins, to choose from instead of having “skins for specific armors”. Not to mention, we would be given the option to name our skin (1 to 6 characters ONLY)

For weapons, we would also be given 25 to 30 skins, and we would be able to customize the color of it. Like the armor skins, we would also be given the option to name the skin.

So, im curious, what would you want. Feel free to post a custom armor/weapon skin you would want.

Absolutely. If 343i had the time on their hands to make these skins and then quickly add color effects to them, then I’d definitely want this.

As for a skin that I’d want… I’d say a circuit skin would be quite schnazzy.

It would also cool if you unlocked weapon skins of getting kills with certain weapons, for example

AR:

Recruit-25kills
Rookie-75kills
Serviced-150kills
Distinguished-500kills
Veteran-1000kills
Legend-2000kills

And each has a different skin unlock for that weapon. (Gold and for love of yoink please let there be an onyx skins =])

That would be cool to have. Each time you hit ranks of Recruit to Onyx, you unlock perhaps 3 or 4 customizable skins. That goes for armors,

One thing gears of war did well was to have some of the skins animated. With the power of the XB1 doing this would be really easy.

Another good thing would to be able to make your own weapon skin (not what you think so that nothing gets put on peoples guns if you get where I’m leading) it would work like this:

Most skins you get can be used in this editor.

Pick a skin background which is the base colour for you weapon say I chose black.

Then I add a skin to the weapon which I can also choose the colour of (a colour wheel with a shader would be helpful)

For example I chose crimson and the circuit skin, so now I a black AR lets say with a crimson circuit pattern on it.

I also have an idea for the physical look of a weapon (doesnt affect gameplay in anyway and the weapon looks mostly the same)

(Personal example) As much as I like the AR I think it needs to look a bit different. So I can choose from a few options which I can also mix and match.

Assault rifle designs

I really like some of the designs that get left out of the game due to them being a bit too flashy or unusual this way I can get the design I like (base designs are kept) I can have the scope from one design, the body from the other, the handle from another etc.

Unlocking them would work in stages like how you unlock weapon skins for the weapon at each interval with legend offering the classic first iteration look of each weapon. This would also allow for more designs to be added in DLC alongside maps, skins and armour that were added in the champions bundle.

Wow, now that’s something i didn’t expect. However, it would be cool and all, but if we were to do that, but i think it would be better off to have only the AR be full customizable. To have that feature available to all weapons would be too much. I do think it looks better with the AR, over the other weapons, :D. Amazing idea, though

Just with the loadout weapons like the AR, BR, CC, PR/SR and possibly the DMR

Oh okay, then yes. To the selected loaduts, they should have a feature where we could modify the weapon.

I wouldn’t mind seeing weapon patterns outside of the loadout system. That way you could use say that pre-order BR ACT skin when you’re playing SWAT.

> I wouldn’t mind seeing weapon patterns outside of the loadout system. That way you could use say that pre-order BR ACT skin when you’re playing SWAT.

I agree. Give the pre-set loadouts skins.

As I’m playing Halo 4, I can’t help but wish I had my FOREST armor skin for my EOD armor instead of HAZOP… I like your idea.

> As I’m playing Halo 4, I can’t help but wish I had my FOREST armor skin for my EOD armor instead of HAZOP… I like your idea.

I agree. That goes for the CIO Web too. Skin was cool, but I wished we were able to put it on different armor sets.

If 343 were to incorporate what you are saying OP then they would have to make it as original as possible, because the common argument about that would be “halo is too much like cod”

I would love to create a custom skin and weapon, but 343 is too much like Treyarch…they will just ignore the matter.

> If 343 were to incorporate what you are saying OP then they would have to make it as original as possible, because the common argument about that would be “halo is too much like cod”

I understand where you’re coming from there. However, doesn’t hurt to be more creative with armors/skins, weapons/skins, etc. Personally, if Halo 5 “did” have this feature, I would consider it Halo, not COD. Good point, though.

I don’t mind if they take NON-GAMEPLAY features from CoD. Weapon skins, commendations, armor, etc are all fine with me because they don’t affect gameplay. Loadouts, perks, etc are the things I don’t like because they impact gameplay heavily.

That’s a good point, I suppose a bit more individuality in the guns would be nice

This is a pretty basic idea (that is to say a good one) and I’d like to add something to it.

Customizable armor skins.

I know this thread has been focusing primarily on customizable weapon skins but I think it needs to be said that there is A LOT of potential in applying the same to armor. Rainbow Six Vegas did and it was certainly one of the most entertaining non-gameplay related features I’ve ever toodled around with. There is simply so much you can screw around with and so much personality you can inject into the game. I was a traffic cone, Ninja Turtle, Storm Trooper, Spartan (Greek), a Putty (Power Ranger cannon fodder), an acid trip, a very “Special” member of the SWAT team, turning the boring old routine of shooting people in the face into high comedic theater or whatever else you wanted it to -Yoinking!- be since you had an enormous amount of control over your personal aesthetics.

And before anyone starts down this road, what custom skins did NOT provide was meaningful tactical advantages. You could try your best at making a useful camo pattern but in almost every circumstance the best you could do was slightly blend in with a pile of garbage which ANY dark coloration would do you (the human eye responds most in this context to silhouettes and movement, neither of which are meaningfully obscured by what you can do to change armor pattern color.) And (to nip another potential complaint in the bud) except for one hilarious moment I don’t recall there wasn’t any real issue with team identification. Red versus blue is merely ONE convention to use for the purpose but there are other mechanics you can use to identify who to shoot and who not to and, IMO, they often work better too.

All in all RB6:V(2) armor customization was a great feature and still perhaps the best player customization system yet seen in the FPS. 343 would do well to pinch it.

It would be cool to have an option to customize colors and patterns on our armor and weapons from scratch. Anyone played Forza 4? Car customization options in this game are HUGE.

What a pretty cool idea, Riot. Not to mention, I agree with what you said about CIO Web. I wish we had the ability to change skins to different armors,
