As many people know by now, battlefront 2 reworked their entire customization system from focusing on loot boxes to leveling up and earning everything through gameplay. They even added some customization features to a few classes and heros. Halo 5 has been out for a few years now and no improvement has been made to the progression and customization system. If EA can make this change, why can’t 343 do it as well?? If they want to make halo 5 better, they should rework the customization system to be more like reach and 4 and should let the player have control of what they look like.

I guess it’s a nice idea, but 343 should be focusing on H6 rather than simple H5 cosmetics.
Halo 5 has been the same way for so long it would be weird if it changed
Well, for one thing, EA and Dice changed BF2’s progression system to be rid of microtransactions due to community backlash. Not the normal kind of controversy that tends to accompany microtransactions. We’re talking backlash that made mainstream news, inspired legislatures to comment on the industry, and most importantly affected EA’s bottom line. Halo 5 didn’t have nearly as much backlash towards the REQ system, so there really wasn’t any incentive to change it, and still isn’t.
Also, BF2 is not even 6 months old. Halo 5 is much older. It doesn’t really make sense to do such a big change to a game this old, especially when direct sequels are in development. If you try to argue that MCC is even older and they’re changing it, that’s because MCC still largely doesn’t work as well as it should; with MCC, it’s about fixing the game. Halo 5 doesn’t need fixing on that level. Apples to oranges.
Its also worth mentioning that much of the backlash towards BF2 was about the star cards and unlocking heroes, which had a direct effect on gameplay experience. It was less about customization; generally gamers are tolerant of microtransactions that only go towards cosmetics. And yes, I know the REA system goes beyond customization; that’s a different discussion, one that’s been had many times now. At the end of the day, it just comes down to the REQ system being more tolerable than BF2’s lootbox system to players (the player base as a whole, not individual players).

For one thing, making customization work like it did in Halo Reach and 4 would involve giving each armor set its own shoulders, arms, legs etc. Since Halo 5 has such a ridiculous amount of armor sets, that would probably take forever. And since Halo 5 has a req system, how they would even get unlocked is an open question.

Halo 5 has much bigger problems, though. It would be better for them to focus on fixing those problems before doing anything with the armor customization.
Halo 5 is too old for a complete reworking of this system, and a lot of Halo 5 players including myself have already unlocked everything in the REQ system, so we wouldn’t like it if we had to deal with a different customization system.
You can keep your fingers crossed for Halo 6 to change the customization, because I am.
Because they are to busy making halo 6

This. I believe someone from 343 posted that Halo 5 wouldn’t be getting any more new things added (someone correct me if I’m wrong). Between Halo 6 and the MCC updates they have their hands full. I’d prefer they listen to our feedback on Halo 5 and change things for future games.

This, Halo 6 needs to be one of the best halo games in the series. At least if the franchise is going to thrive.
Also 343i has stated that they will not make any changes to Halo 5 anymore.
Yea there are a couple changes that 343 should probably make to halo 5 to make the customization better.
I think the system is simple and efficient and doesnt need to be changed. I would like to see more armors and helmets being released regularly though.
It’s almost 3 years old so who cares. Let’s just wait for halo 6 in peace

Yeah, I agree with you, but it should be implemented in Halo 6. It is way too late for Halo 5 to rework it’s customization system. The only thing they can do is add some awesome helmets or armors to the loot pool and even that is most likely not going to happen. Or maybe add the 343 and unicorn skins to the loot pool. I dunno. With Halo 6 coming in probably 2019, I only think people want to complete their collection.
