Customization overhaul

So, the customization has incredible bones and has the possibility to be better than Reach

So, let’s go through it shall we? Let’s start with armor.

Armor

  • Armor pieces

    • Helmets/helmet attachments

      • These are fine, but attachments shouldn’t be helmet locked unless they physically can’t go on other helmets.

      • You should be able to use multiple attachments at once as long as they don’t clip

      • Helmets should be crosscore. Me, a f2p user would go from having 3 helmets per core (MK. VII and Yorai) to 6 helmets to choose from per core. Would only increase customization and make people more incentivized to buy helmets or the BP since the unlocks are more valuable

    • Shoulders

      • No complaints here other than they should be crosscore
    • Chest pieces

      • People have pointed out that most (if not all) of the chest attachments don’t change color with the rest of the armor, they remain grey slabs of metal on your spartan. This NEEDS to change
    • Gloves

      • No complaints other than crosscore

      • And we should have the ability to choose our L and R gloves, like Shoulders

    • Visors

      • These should be crosscore
    • Knee pads

      • These should be crosscore

      • We should have the ability to choose them L and R like shoulders.

    • Utility

      • Should be crosscore

      • We should be able to choose them L and R like shoulders (exceptions apply (i.e. Yorai utilities) )

    • Wrists

      • We should be able to pick them L and R like shoulders

      • Should be crosscore

  • Color customization

      • We should have the ability to pick primary and secondary colors from a color wheel, for free.

      • Separately, in the store and unlocked through Battlepasses, we can gain different color options for certain armor pieces (i.e. "Blue helmet, yellow helmet, green armor set, orange glove, red chestplate, ect ect)

      • Also, there should be an “armor wear” slider, which affects how dirty/worn your armor looks.

      • Deigns for armor can be sold/unlocked, like (camo, striped, dotted, ect ect)

  • Armor FX

    • I should be able to put multiple armor FX on as long as they don’t interfere with eachother. Flaming shoulders/Mohawk, Flaming helmet/Flaming shoulders, ect ect

Weapons

  • Modules should be separated into “barrel” “stock” and any other part that has modules

  • color customization should be like armor, you have primary and secondary colors free and then can buy/unlock different parts.
This would open up a HUGE avenue for MTX and further player customization. Think of all the different parts that you could customize the color

trigger
stock
barrel
grip
butt
butt plate
heel
trigger gaurd
magazine
cocking piece
receiver
rear sight
carrying handle
bolt
breach
barrel extension
handguard
handguard liner
handguard cap
front sight housing
muzzle
flash suppressor
barrel nut
slip ring

Vehicles

  • modules can be expanded
    wheels
    windshield
    grille
    bumper
    roof

  • color customization can be expanded.
I don’t know much about cars, so I can’t list all the different parts but the potential is there

Emblems

  • We should get emblem backdrops and emblem fronts. This increases customization

That’s about all I have, what do you guys think? Would you prefer this system, or the one we already have?

What do you think of this?
  • I like it
  • I don’t like it but don’t like the current one
  • I don’t like it and like the current one

I mean, it’s okay and all, but imagine what would happen if you go into a match and see and I quote, “rambos on steroids with bonus PTSD and depression”.

this is my opinion, but
i myself prefer uniform in a military-based game, so I’m honestly pretty happy with this current system.

You would still have uniformity

yes, but I’m saying if this customisation system were to pass, some people might customise their spartans to and I quote again, “rambos on steroids with bonus PTSD and depression”, which is something I’m not particularly a fan of.

I mean, if that’s what they want to do, why prevent them?
Comes down to the argument, “I don’t want to see X in my game” which is totally fine but it seems kind of odd to prevent people from playing a game the way they want to just because you don’t want them to.

They could solve that by adding a core toggle which only shows armor that is for that core I guess

mm yeah you make a fair point

I assume you mean crosscore you don’t like the sound of, which is fine.
But Helmets, visors, gloves, those kind of things wouldn’t really affect the overall feel of the armor, imo.
If it was just those, I would be satisfied

visors, gloves and coatings I don’t see why they shouldn’t be cross core. for me it’s the matter of having say Yoroi shoulder armour on Mk. V [B]

This would be a good solution for stuff like that.
But visors, gloves, coatings, helmets, that stuff literally has no reason to not be crosscore other than $$$

They should also not be considered two unlocks.

Every armor piece, including attachments, should have primary, secondary and detail coatings to change, or at the very least, each piece should have one coating to change.

I don’t agree with this.
Especially with the current prices.

I think they should let you use a few of them even if they conflict.
e.g. halo with a mohawk.

Also, the effect positions should have sliders to change their positions and sizes to some extent.
I really don’t like the cyberpunk visor’s position and width.

That would be better, but I’d prefer the system from CoD: Black Ops.

Other than those things, I agree with the changes.

We’re already getting weird things, and Halo’s always had customization to some extent.
All the changes would do is give more customization ability to the players instead of 343.

We had Hayabusa shoulders on the Mark VI in Halo 3.

thats the thing it was tailored specifically for the Mark VI. the Yoroi shoulders were made specifically for the Yoroi core

I agree with most of it. But I also have a strong feeling of “first things first” when I read it. I think priority should be (in order):

  • cross core visors
  • cross core armor coatings
  • armor and helmet attachments being affected by armor coatings.
  • a clean to dirty scroll wheel for armor coatings, or at the very least be able to select clean or dirty for your armor. It bothers me that only hcs and exclusives like deathly poison or red shift are clean coatings and everything else is dirty by default.
  • being able to select multiple helmet and chest attachments, as long as they don’t clip.

If all that is done, we should take a look at cross core armor. I feel people only want that now because customization in the game is so limited. But once the above named limitations are solved, I don’t think people will feel the need to have a yoroi core with an ODST helmet and people will actually appreciate unique armor cores. But good work on your part.

The reasons that Wrists and Utilities aren’t available on both sides is because of clipping issues. Grapple-Shot and Repulsor equipment goes on the left forearm.
And small arms goes on your hip when not in use.

Yes

I think it should just remain primary and secondary is free, then you can buy/unlock extra customization

Neon and Mohawk don’t conflict I think

I wish we could get rid of coatings but I think it is too late for that.
Crosscore coatings are the next best thing

Definitely

Yup

Helm attachments, yes, don’t know about chest attachments. I don’t think it would be possible for those not to clip.
Also, CAN WE GET A BACK ATTACHMENT!!!

Customization is definitely limited but I still would want crosscore armor, as long as they don’t clip a lot.
If you don’t like it, I guess the option above to had a “core armor” toggle, so you only see armor pieces that go with that core.
I don’t really like the idea of armor cores, but that is just me. Even with the changes you listed, f2p would still have very little customization

Thanks

Ah, didn’t know that.
That’s too bad.

Ok, so here is what, I have as a f2p player. And then I will show what I would have if crosscore was enabled
I have the 3 free helmets for Mk. VII
Plus 3 free helmets

8 visors for MK. VII
3 for Yorai

3 chests for Mk. VII
1 for Yorai

3 shoulders for Mk. VII
2 for Yorai

1 glove per core

1 wrist for MK. VII

1 utility per core

1 knee pad MK. VII
2 Knee pad Yorai

If crosscore was enabled for players, I would have this level of customization

6 helmets

4 chests

5 shoulders

2 gloves

1 wrist

2 Utilities

3 Knee pads

That’s a decent amount of customization, and lets say I get 1.5 more in S2. Then I would have

9 helmets

6 chests

7 shoulders

3 gloves

2 wrists

3 utilities

4 knee pads

That’s pretty decent customization imo, but right now, there’s next to nothing

And events shouldn’t be time limited, they should be separate Battlepasses that disappear once you have completed them but stay around until you complete them.
