Customization MUST

Hello,
I’d like to discuss what I think should happen in regards to armor permutations and customizations within halo Infinite
This will not be short, and will most likely be bordering a rant.

Now we can most likely all agree halo 5’s customization options are absolutely awful, with some exceptions to specific variants , even if they’ve been devalued * cough cough* helioskrill * cough *

One game with the BEST options however was reach and heres why

•Variants are bundle together onto the base unlock( all variants for specific helmet ect. Found within that original helmet)

• All unlocks can be earned within the game without real money , if real money is needed or a request pack system again.
(The base version of an unlock should be obtainable first in some fashion FIRST and then variants could come from pack )

•helmets had attachments ( counted as variants though )

• unlocks are obtained through leveling up and saving credits

• every piece of your Spartan can be changed separately, creating unique variations between players
• some unlocks are ACHIEVEMENT SPECIFIC

• last but not least WE COULD EARN OUR UNLOCKS

While yes it would also be great to see elites return and maybe even another type of playable characters like Prometheans( it’s almost expected at this point) 343 needs to focus on and look at what made halo reach such a social and unique experience
In terms of both gameplay and especially CUSTOMIZATION

Seeing someone that was a reclaimer, with the haunted helm in reachv was definitely symbolic and also a treat to see while playing. It was beyond rare, even myself only managed to get to the rank Noble after non stop play years ago.

It gives players the incentive to keep playing and have goals.
Why change my armor at all or work towards getting special helmets if some kid on the other side of world can spend a few bucks and get it with no time put in at all.

In example
I only recently found out about helioskrill , spent a week repeating all campaigns on legendary

I go into matchmaking feeling all -Yoink!- and good about my Spartan, only to find out it’s beyond common now because there is two other variants of helioskrill. Nothing feels worse than working toward something special , only to find out it’s worthless

We need customization to symbolize status and achievement again!

Please feel free to leave your thoughts and also let me know what you think of customization over the years

I like what you’re saying.

Why stop there, though, in regards to customization?

I would like to be able to play as a brute, and be able to unlock body armor, helmets and beards.

insert Sage’s beard here

Why not be able to do a bit of the ol’ Elder Scrolls facial hair selector?

I wholeheartedly disagree, as I always do with these threads that ask for Reach’s method of obtaining unlocks. Accumulating game time doesn’t make me feel like I earned the armor at all, and that’s all you had to do with Reach, which did not feel like an achievement at all.

Utilizing the commendation system to achieve certain armors would actually make me feel like I earned it by doing something specific in the game.

This is preferable in conjunction with a mix of armors that can be earned like armor was in Reach.

I think they should make “standard” armor (air assault, CQB, EVA, Scout, etc) be obtainable with credits, while “special” armor (Recon, Shinobi, Helioskrill, etc.) has to be achieved by performing difficult feats, such as for example getting 500 snapshots, or getting 50 perfections, or beating the campaign on legendary or something. Also they could add more customization options like HUDs or maybe even capes/cloaks (like the one Chief wore in the H5 teaser).

While I tent to agree to a small degree. In Halo Reach you got the Haunted Helmet for reaching max rank, in Halo 5 you get an emblem in a req pack.

I think most people would agree getting to max rank would be an achievement and you should be awarded with more than an emblem. Probably why some people just don’t care about getting 152.
I would agree using the commendation system to achieve more armors would be cool. Assuming we get attachments back commendations could be used for those and/or armor pieces.

See I can agree with you on earning armor, just in the way we sort of did in halo 3.
I was hoping more along the lines of better UI and grouping , so the system viewer isn’t such a mess when it comes to armor

Let’s say there’s 60 unique helmets( close to the amount already)
The variants need to be grouped into their right full places, instead of all 200+ displayed right in front of you and having to scroll through them to find specific variants

It needs to be concise, and understandable compared to halo 5

What if our HUD, matched our helmet, like in the halo 5 camapign when going between locke and chief? That would be amazing

they really do need to fix it. Halo 5 way is really dull. Reach was pretty fun that way

UI and grouping I absolutely agree on. If there’s any issue I can knock Reach for, that certainly wasn’t one of them. The organization of grouping the helmet variants with their attachments goes appreciated a lot more now than ever these days.

While Halo 5 separates items based on alphabetical order, they are still separated by rarity as well, which makes finding the items tedious until you know what rarity it is.

I miss the old days where if you want something, you have to grind for it instead of hoping you get it in a loot box.

That’s not a bad idea but 1) There are A LOT of helmets in Halo 5 and if they transfer those to Infinite they’d have to design A LOT of HUDs. And 2) that’s kinda going backwards on my idea. Why have your HUD stuck to your helmet when you can just choose whichever one you want? Still if they did your idea that’d be cool.

What do I want?

You should, be able to customise your whole Spartan at this point.

I would like

Helmet variations
Visor obviously
Shoulder Variations
Chest variations
forearm variations
wrist variations
hand armour variations
thigh armour variations
knee guards variations
calv and feet variations

All with permutations available to the main armour pieces. Hell, give us a choice between Reach, 3 and 5 body gloves.

b e a r d s. I like the sound of that.

I would like to even play as an elite and have different armor for them as well

I’ve been suggesting a combination of both methods in one for a while now, but to be honest, as long as it’s not all random unlocks like Halo 5’s req system I’ll be happy.

I can agree with that statement. I wasn’t a huge fan of Reach’s method, but the armor unlocks through the REQ system feels beyond unrewarding.
