Customization Ideas

Having Firefight voices back for Warzone would be cool, there’d be lots of ways to expand on that with the wealth of characters we have at this point.
I think if there was a battle damage slider, it should go from Halo 4, brand new and shiny, to Reach with scratches and chipped paint, with options for Gloss or Matte if they want to go all out. It ought to be available for Elites too, and having a half-jaw option would be cool.

I suppose the under-armor for Reach was the same no matter the permutation, so I reckon a mix of Unique chest plates and variations to them would be the best idea. Have the H2A ODST Chest plate as a base option with different arrangement of pockets, maybe one without any but with a knife holstered on the front, or one with a smoldering plasma burn on it.

As far as more extensive battle damage? Think Sgt. Forge’s chest plate with the scar from Ripa’s Energy Sword, or even bullet holes from Insurrectionists. Maybe have an armor variant with a Spiker round sticking out, or have an arm with a Brute Shot’s blade attached to it, a shoulder guard made from an Honor Guard’s helmet. It’d be awesome if they went with the makeshift-aesthetic that the Banished introduced, and having the UNSC on the backfoot in the story is the perfect excuse to bring in this aesthetic.

I really like the idea of makeshift armour as not only could it look cool almost like a trophy, it could help make some awesome looking characters say you wanna look like a bounty hunter very rugged with scratches and armour made from past kills, plus if 343 went back to something like Reachs credit system where you pick what thing you buy, I think it could help revamp machinimas as the player doesn’t have to buy loads of packs to get the armour they want for a character, and since splitscreen was removed they had to find people with the armour they wanted other charactersto use as well, but combine a system like that with splitscreen and I think it would be a good start at not only getting machinimas up and going again but might even bring more machinima people back cause of splitscreen coming back.

I was legit talking to my friend about this being a thing a good while back, it makes me happy to know I’m not quite alone, how I’d do it would be the armour consuming damaged, wether it’s burn bullet holes or just scrapes. We figured keep the damage until you die, and if you get through the game with it then save it as an option.

I honestly think these ideas are great and should be utilized, am I the only one that wants a Brute Captains armour, but conforms to the shape of a Spartan? Give me a brute shot and life is good.

I could see that looking cool plus there could be different variations say a war chief which is more barbaric with more spikes

There’d have to be some limitations on armor size of course, I think trying to explain the hitboxes of this would be a bit…awkward, and you don’t want to mess with the silhouette too much, but I think there’s plenty of room for exploration in this direction.
Also on the subject of customization, I’d rather custom assassinations be thrown out for weapon specific versions, less of this acrobatic jump-jet nonsense and more impaling someone with a Spiker Bayonette.

Heck, Bring back the Katana, lock it to LASO Difficulty, and then have specific assassinations for it.
[This will never happen but I can dream]

True but what if some amrour is only allowed in custom games/certain game modes meaning that people that play ranked wouldn’t consider themselves having a disadvantage if they use a standard (size) spartan for most games, and in customs any armour/species is allowed, provided the host allows it, think of the idea being somewhat like Reachs were your main character was a Spartan but in certain game types elies were allowed.
also I like the idea of weapon assassinations especially if they make certain weapons more “gorey” like cutting someones head off with a energy sword or bashing them with a shotgun so they fall over and as they’re getting back up you shoot them in the face, doubt it’ll happen like that but I do think an assassination along them lines would be badass

I demand drop kicks.

That’s another way of doing it. However, battle damage would be an option that you can apply to your character straight from the menus. It’s simply all cosmetic. Here’s what battle damage should cover:

  • General wear and dirtiness - Water marks and scorch marks - Bullet holes and plasma marks - Scratches, dents, and gashes - A cracked visor - Damaged, rusted, or missing armor parts - Shrapnel / foreign objects stuck in your armor - Damaged undersuits

I agree, imagine if thet let you choose where the damage was as well, it’d certainly give your character more of a personal feel.

Be good for machine-made or that good o"l role-playing xD

Definetly Halo Reach style. And also, let us inspect players armor before each match like in Reach. It’s boring to look at everyone after the game. I want to be scared and provoked before the game, not after.

I want to edit:
Helmet.
Visor.
Shoulders (Left/Right) meaning you can mix it up.
Arms (Like reach) the bracers/pads or whatever.
Legs (Not like reach with knees’) but maybe upper legs and bottom legs.
Boots.

Armor effects I can do without. Maybe for fun in customs games. It didn’t really feel like Halo.

And I agree, the armor should look damaged. Colder than in Halo 4/5. It’s too bright colors. We need darkness and cold hard armors. Not Lego characters. (Yes, Defender helmet, I’m talking to you.)

Reach/H3 customization with damage slider is perfect IMO.

To be honest I kinda forgot about seeing armour before games but it would be cool for that to return, also what do you think about makeshift armour attachments like the bruteshot blade or something similar, and by wanting damaged armour would you prefer a slider, damage from in game or some other way to do it and how much damage eg scratches-broken pieces

Would be cool to have weapons on the armor, yes. Like the katana from Halo 3.

I feel like the armor should be more like in Reach, where it looked used. Torn. Like John’s in Halo 5.

I mean the spartans are fighting the intense close-combat battles with elites, brutes, flood. They must have some scratches and bulks.

Edit: When talking about the weapons on the armor, like bruteshot blade, etc. That would only work if the weapons stood out from the others, like in Halo 3 with the katana. A weapon people know you can’t use. Otherwise people that pay attention to this kind of details will be confused. Like it shouldn’t cover if you have a sniper on your back or a plasma pistol on your hip. Then it wouldn’t work, in my opinion. But if it didn’t cover any Real weapons. Then I would definetly like to see it be returned.

I don’t really mind specifically as long as the armours look like something a Spartan would actually wear.
Also, I really dislike that they’re part of Halo 5’s REQ system.

Would you prefer to get them the reach way or the way from 3

I don’t mind overly, to be honest.
In terms of the amount of options you have, Reach was basically 3 but expanded. As for how they are earned, maybe a mix: you get armours unlocked the more you play like in Reach, but certain ones can only be gained by completing challenges and stuff (more like 3)

Everyone wants black undersuits back, why not just meet halfway and make the undersuit a third color option? That way people who want a black undersuit can have it while other people can go crazy with it.
Imagines someone with purple armor and a bright pink undersuit

I’d like it like that as well, as for “something a Spartan would actually wear” Im thinking 3 or Reachs style of armour, with some of the armour from reach looking like they specialise in a certain field (sniper, recon heavy etc) as it almost makes them feel more human, so what style where you thinking?
