Customizable weapons

I was in bed trying to go to sleep, and for some reason thinking about halo and call of duty. I had a what if moment, where you had, for example a DMR, no scope. If halo infinite has a REQ system like halo five, then attachments could come from packs. Get attachments, and you can add them to the DMR. this could be something for multiplayer games. What do you guys think?

infinite wont have req and the idea of gaining equipment and/or armor by chance is atrocious in my view because it doesn’t reward you for playing right but for how many packs you get.
the idea of loot boxes, packs and all other lottery system is the worst idea to ever enter gaming

It might work as long as its not from a req or loot system, cos I agree that its a terrible way of rewarding players. Unlocking attachments through ranking up may work but it would only work in certain playlists in my opinion. I wouldn’t see it having a place in competitive playlists for example.

If it’s for something like Warzone, sure if all those attachments are earnable. Otherwise, no please. Halo MP has stayed pretty focused on fair starts in Arena and stuff like attachments throws that out the window.

Well there’s your problem. We already got Halo 4. Also the Req pack (lootbox) system is the worst thing to happen to the Halo franchise. As for the attachments I don’t want to see them. We could see weapon variants much like what they have with vehicles where you have different scorpions and warthogs and ghosts. A certain variant of the battle rifle could come with different scope and a variant of the carbine could come with an energy bayonet. But no more weapon attachments.

I know this is coming from a place of nostalgia, but I really miss the simplified sandbox of games like CE through H3. Each weapon, for the most part, had a distinct role. Even the Covenant alternatives to human weapons functioned differently (rocket launcher vs fuel rod cannon for example). In those old games, you got a gun like the AR and that was it. There were no attachments. What you see is what you get, and I appreciated that simplicity.

Doesn’t sound very balanced to me, especially if you’d get them from loot boxes.
