Customizable controls for Halo 4

Why do games still make you use certain control schemes? No more having to settle for the controls that are listed. Lets put a customizable control scheme feature in Halo 4. Every gamer has a different playing style and need a control scheme that works for them.

I decided to go with Recon for Reach b/c I thought it would be an easy transition for me from Halo 3 and ODST, but there are still differences and I found myself using my armor ability whenever I wanted to switch my grenades. Now that I’ve gotten used to the newer controls I can’t really go back to Halo 3 or ODST and have it not feel a little weird.

Overall, it’s a very simple feature that can go a long way for a lot of people. Let’s get it done. Anyone else with me on this?

This has been a staple of PC gaming for years and I would like to see it in Halo 4. In my wildest dreams, the level of control customization would be on par with The Conduit (not an amazing game, but the levels of customization in controls, HUD and all that were simply astounding). I would at least like to map any function to any button I want.

I know TF2 on the orange box has this feature, and it worked pretty well, so if this is implemented, I’m hoping it’s like that.

Maybe they are adding this to Reach’s Title Update  (One man can dream… dont flame me)

Yes. It’d be a welcomed feature.

All the games in The Orange Box support free button customization; HL2, E1, E2, TF2, and Portal. Very commendable…

And yes, I’m all for free button customization as well. It shouldn’t be that hard to do.

This is one of those things that shouldn’t bug anyone. Hopefully you guys get your wish.

Huh, weird I didn’t know that considering how many times I played through Portal.

I just hope they have Bumper Jumper. That’s all I ask for.

If the controls are freely customizable, you can set it up like you want. And if you want the controls to work like Bumper Jumper, you can do that.

Oooo, yes please.

That would be AMAZING

It seems like Halo’s core control scheme has changed with every installment in the series. No two games have had the same default controls except Halo 3 and ODST but even they are a little different. For fans out there who loved the originals like Halo 1 and 2 then they’d probably prefer a control scheme similar to that where as more modern Halo gamers would prefer something like Recon in Reach.

I think they could still provide a few control scheme choices for those who don’t care, but they should still give us the option to make the controls what we want them to be. I’m sure someone could’ve made Bumper Jumper work with Reach if this feature was available. Would take some tweaking, but I’m sure they could’ve gotten it done.

Allowing someone to customize their own controls would also help them memorize the controls and jump into the game a little easier. I hate having to re-learn how to play Halo with each new game and set of controls.

Yes!,i would have CoD’s(cause is generic, and i wouldn’t get freaked up with controls after playing any other FPS)

Free up the face buttons, put grenade-type on the d-pad, it’s not an ability needed to be on the quick-face.
