Hey Folks!
One of the things that upsets me about Halo 5: Guardians, other than the title, is that none of the Controller Layouts rally fit me and what I like in layouts. Some are very similar and some are way off. But none really fit me and how I’d map them.
I have an elite controller, and I do love it! I use the panels a lot and theyve helped my current layout now. I play with the Halo 4 setting. I don’t like B as my crouch and Rb as my melee. I find that RB melee is slow and I lose melee fights a lot. So I find the layout is doesn’t quite fit me as well. I prefer crouch to be LS and B as my melee (though it makes ground-pound hard to aim) and sprint to be LS as well amongst some changes.
I like the helljumper and Bumper Jumper settings too, but I don’t like B as my action/reload or X as my thruster pack. But I don’t like some of the other changes. Specifically in helljumper.
When I remap the buttons on my elite controller it completely recaps the button in even the menus. It annoys me, lol.
So I’d love to be able to make my own layouts, and also see other people’s ideas. It makes the game. More personal. Almost like as if I’m. My own Spartan hehehehe. Please don’t hate me for that.
I’ve thought of one layout to use (don’t laugh). I based it on classic Halo:CE/Halo.
It goes:
L-Analog: Move
R-Analog: Aim
LS: Toggle crouch/hold to sprint OR toggle sprint/Hold to crouch. I have seen this in other fps’ so I know this can happen and work. I tend to see anything with the L-Analog function the legs and basic movement.
RS: Smart-Link/Zoom
A: Jump/clamber
B: Melee/Assassination
X: Action/Reload
Y: Switch Weapons : VISR BRING THIS BACK IT’D BE SO COOL! thete could be a map that you could turn all the lights off and you have to use this to move around. : Campaign : switch G-nades : switch G-nades
RT: Fire Weapon
LT: Throw Grenade
LB: Thruster. I would change this so that THIS delays shields from recharging until about 3 seconds into the thruster’s 5 second recharge
RB: I don’t know, can’t think of anything. VISR maybe?? Melee??
I call this layout The Duke. I’d love to be able to use this in the game.
Anyways let me know what you think and hopefully we can get 343 to get this in the game!
Also post some of your own button layouts of your own!

Problem with this is there are no profiles or game-specific setups.
Once you map your controller, it’s like that for everything else, which gets confusing.

It gets annoying when I play halo with my X button my b button. Then go to play the Witcher 3 and have to go into my setting and switch out my controller configuration. I know it’s a first work problem, lol. But still an annoyance.
All. I’m saying that the option to completely customize your own controller layout for specifically halo, and other shooters, should be an option. I mean we can change our dead zones and look acceleration, but we can’t configure our own button layouts still? Word?
I know my layout The Duke doesn’t fit everyone.but that’s just for me, and I know it’s just full of little changes, but those matter to me. There’s plenty of other people that have similar and different little changes that matter to them.
I think we should have the freedom to completely customize a controller layout and not have to remap the buttons so they’re not confusing for every other game/app we use.
I don’t want to have to constantly be going into the accessories app on my xbox to change a controller configuration just so it’s easier to watch Netflix or something. That’s all.

Sorry for late reply… i was 200 km away from home …
Completely customizable controller layouts should be a standard in every game, yet they’re quite rare to see. It was a pleasant surprise in Overwatch, and I see no reason why it isn’t, or shouldn’t be, in Halo.

Awesome you agree! Amd I mean completely customizable. Like being able to put crouch on the LS andhave Sprint on LS as a “hold to” or double click LS. Basically allow us to do whatever we want but with out controls but not switch button functions. Meaning A is still A no matter what.
Maybe we or I should make a poll so 343 puts this in??
