These were probably the biggest things that made Halo: Reach a failure to the halo series, I’m not saying Reach was bad it just wasn’t great, please don’t make the same mistake.
What made the earlier halo’s more popular was that everyone started on the same, “even” playing field, there shouldn’t be things like abilities and loadouts that give different advantages and disadvantages added to the game so people can center and blame their frustrations on the things that give people a different playing field. besides the fact that you can never completely balance two completely different things. I “Trust” and “Believe” in you 343, but don’t make a mistake like this.
Btw: I don’t care what these abilities are i just think we shouldn’t be able to spawn with one… and make these “abilities” pick ups only. Some people don’t get that “its not what the abilities do” its the fact that they could let everyone spawn with a different one and cause an unbalanced system. I’m just asking for everyone to be equal to each other from spawn.

Agreed completely. What makes Halo unique from most other shooters out there is that everyone starts off equally and have to fight their way to acquire weapons and power-ups. Taking this core principle away from the series makes Halo less Halo IMO.

This 100% of what i was trying to explain. But so far from what i have heard, 343 Industries is doing everything right, like not pulling every multiplayer map straight from campaign, which keeps multiplayer unique and fresh.
They cant go and make the same mistake Bungie did, keep it fair for everyone, you cant balance playing personalities so don’t go and make “abilities and loadouts” because then you focus on balancing those when its impossible to balance something that’s different from another, so just try to have it were everyone starts fair and equal.
disagree. not trying to become the one flamed here, i mean i respect everyones opinion. i want to see where this new innovation goes. who knows, its halo and sure it may get dissapointments here and there but nonetheless enjoyable all the time.

I respect and understand your opinion because innovations are good when they are done right, but this is halo it “was” the last game that made everyone equal, then Bungie went and changed that when they shouldn’t have because the people responded by playing Halo: Reach a lot less and having less than amazing game sales.
Now 343 has a chance to make a Halo comeback by giving the majority of the community what they want and for the rest of the people, add in “extras” (like custom game options) that they wanted and possibly putting them in game modes for a play list like “Action Sack”. “just an example”

The Majority of the community already knows what they want so “abilities” will always have more of a chance of “epic failure” than if they just make the game “fair and equal” like the majority wants, and leave “abilities” for a custom games option.
I agree. 343 should at least make a whole separate playlist if they are going to add loadouts or abilities and keep them away from the competitive part of multiplayer.

YOU. DON’T. KNOW. WHAT. THE. “ABILITIES”. ARE.
There is no WAY you could know. You don’t KNOW if they are un-balanced. You don’t know if they ARE. We don’t KNOW.
Honestly armor abilities were fine in reach, it was that fact that everyone always had one due to loadouts. So if they were pickups they would be fine.

If there is going to be more than one ability chances are they are going to be different from each other, in which case you “cant” ever completely balance two things that are completely different from each other.
So as i said before, they need to just make it an equal experience for everyone and leave the “abilities and loadouts” for custom. Doing this will more likely be a bigger success.

exactly what im saying… pick ups were already a big part of halo and need to be kept, just don’t give people a choice to spawn with them.
Do we need to know what the abilities are before we judge them ?
Maybe some people just dont want abilities or custom loadouts and want it to be simple like halo 2 and 3, in what no doubt made halo multiplayer so popular online.
The things is that we don’t know anything about these loadouts. We don’t know what you’ll unlock and how well they will fit into the gameplay.
I don’t think making the comparison with Halo Reach is fair. Halo Reach was made by a different company with different ideas and Halo 4 is a different game. From what can be seen of the small gameplay and what 343i has said, there aren’t many elements that are like Reach, except for the ideas of sprint and loadouts. Even then, the ideas are being presented in very different ways. For example, you didn’t get to choose your class set up in Reach, you just chose from a list of set classes. Also, there’s the possibility that sprint is standard.
As long as they don’t make certain perks, particularly if sprint is one of them, necessary to use to win; the system will be fine. Even then, we can’t judge it from 20 seconds of gameplay, so we will have to wait for more content to be released and when the final game comes out, then we can make a good judgement.

In some interviews 343 has said there are “custom loadouts” so obviously if there customizable then not everyone starts the same which messed up Reach… all I’m pleading for is for 343 to start everyone off from spawn exactly the same so its “fair” for everyone. And make abilities pick ups only, i don’t care what there are as long as we don’t spawn with one.
