343 has already confirmed that there will be custom loadouts and they also confirmed that the DMR will be in halo 4 as well as the BR, so this is how i think the custom loadouts will work…
to keep it halo-arcade style (everyone starts out equal to each other), they will probably only let you choose which standard weapon you want (DMR or BR, AR or Plasma Rifle, etc.) but no power weapons, those will be left scattered across the map.

This is Halo not Call of Duty. Halo’s competiveness is surrounded by the fight for weapons.

Usually the fight is for power weapons not the AR plasma rifle etc.
i’m not saying i am happy with 343’s decision to include custom loadouts, i am just stating an opinion that i think will work for halo. the fight for weapons will still be preserved with the power weapons. i hate call of duty and if halo ever turned out like it i would boycott the franchise.
I wouldn’t mind choosing your weapons for example
if you playing slayer brs you could have the option of dmr br carbine etc.
and for regular slayer have the AR smg plasma rifle
I think halo should just go back to being halo. Just because other games do it doesn’t mean halo should go with it, halo is unique like that.

but would it really be that bad

It could be, know one would start out equal like they did in all the halo games, i could ruin the balanced gameplay halo always had

perhaps, im not saying your wrong but, lets say your playing 1v1 and one person has a br and the other a dmr sure there somewhat different but would it cause a significant amount of unbalanced gameplay??
I must have missed it somewhere but where does it confirm that both the battle rifle and the DMR will be in Halo 4? Thanks.

your not alone…
same question here…all i know for sure is the BR

Watch the latest sparkast they confirm it
I’m waiting to see exactly how the system works, but it appeals to me as it will make the fights more dynamic. I guess I’m not a competitive player, but I like the way Reach made Halo more cinematic and sporadic. You could look around the battlefield briefly at any time and see players with different weapons, jetpacks, armor locks, vehicles, assassinations, etc. Reach is very cinematic and random, and I like that about it. I used to be competitive, but after playing too much H2 and H3 I needed something different. Spawning on symmetrical maps got rediculous: being precisely the same distance away from weapons, being given the same weapons and abilities, all of these things feel outdated to me.
Not trying to incite anger from anyone, just stating my opinion.

I don’t think fights will become more dynamic. It’ll just add complaints like “Stop choosing the DMR!! or something”.

Maybe dynamic is not the right word I’m looking for, but anyway we don’t know if this will incite complaints until the game comes out. I’m excited to hear the DMR is back- always hated burst weapons.

I’m a Halo 2 guy so you know my opinion on that but I’m all good with more weapons on the map. I just believe that your choice of load outs will become unfair. For the dash to the power weapons, the AR people won’t be able to shoot as far as the DMR people, so the AR people can easily be shot from far away while they can’t even hit the DMR people

So?
If you choose to spawn with a close-mid range weapon I assume your primary tactic is not sniping the other team. Maybe, just maybe, the maps are made with the different spawn weapons in mind and hence AR-users can rush the BR/DMR users and defeat them in close range combat, where their long range weapons are bad?
Instead of being spawn-camped by DMR users dominating teh game, you can choose to throw away AR and spawn with DMR or BR, what ever might save your skin, and hence use it to your advantage. If you choose to use DMR, you’ll have to stay back and aim for the kills while the other rush the weapons. Once you get close, you’ll get gunned down by BR and AR fire, and won’t stand a chance with a DMR. When you respawn, you’ll choose BR, sneak up and rain death upon your enemies, only to get defeated by a long range DMR user, who you outshoot the next time while a AR guy sneaks up on you, etc etc.
Sound very hectic and killtimes are bound to be faster, and the battlefield dynamic, not to mention less campers, and anyone can play the way they want to.

Now I feel better about using that word- I thought it might be the right one. I can imagine having loadouts in a map like Rumble Pit- one that has both close, mid, and long range combat. Loadouts could work on a map like that, but I don’t really see how they could work on a map like Valhalla or Boneyard where most of the combat is long or mid range…
