Most of my biggest problems with this game are caused by custom loadouts. Would the boltshot have been a problem if you couldn’t spawn with it? No. How annoying would PV and Camo be if you couldn’t spawn with them? Not nearly as annoying. Would vehicle gameplay suck if you couldn’t spawn with a plasma pistol and plasma grenades. No.
And now they’re starting to nerf and buff weapons and vehicles based on how they’re ruined by custom loadouts. The sandbox will be butchered until every weapon you can spawn with is just as uninteresting and usefull/less as the next like in CoD. That’s what made Halo great. Every weapon had a niche. Every weapon had a personality and an individual purpose. Now they’re just gonna make everything equal to everything else to balance loadouts.
Also, stupid perks couldn’t really exist without custom loadouts. Or at least they’d have to be gametype specific, which would be awesome. Just another tool for customizing player traits in custom gametypes. I feel like if they didn’t have custom loadouts this game would be 40-50% better. Or maybe if there were pre set loadouts. Anyone agree?
I think building maps around gametypes and not the unknown of player classes is a lot better.
Imagine instead of having everyone DMR (Which might change come update) on Ragnorak. It is a campy snorefest. If they looked at player feedback, they could change Team DMRS on Ragnorak to Team Brs on Ragnorak or even TS on Ragnorak, and that wouldn’t take half a year to throw out some balance.
Plus one or two weapons are OP any way, and having the ability to just remove them from the map, temporarily, is a lot easier than forcing people who bought your game to sit through -Yoink- deaths.
I mean Call of Duty hasn’t been balanced decently since arguably COD 2 or COD 4, which has been what almost a decade? Do you really think Halo needs this?
I beg to differ, OP. I love Custom Loadouts. Gives me the opportunity to choose my weapon, rather than to start with a AR and a magnum, which forces me to go and find a precision weapon, either DMR, BR, Carb, and Light. Plus, the AA’s and grenades and lastly, I like the Tact and Support features. I hope that carries to Halo 5.
I just want my arena shooter back. Also, 343 needs to put weapons on the map.
Since the majority of the players I face always use the DMR, I never can get any ammo for my BR. Even if they don’t put power weapons on the map, they shuld at least put some BRs, ARs, and other basic weapons on the map.

I agree with this. I would be happy if they would just come out with a classic playlist that was 100% arena. Imagine how fun big team would be if it were arena again.

That’s just the “all I care about is instant gratification and shooting stuff” route. It ruins the previous depth and tactics of Halo. People use to spawn with an assault rifle and a magnum because it forced variety and caused people to actually use weapons that aren’t just the BR and DMR. It also encouraged map movement and control. Now everyone just runs around shooting like in CoD. There’s nothing deeper anymore. It’s just run around, shoot stuff, power weapons drop to your feet.
And there’s nothing more boring than a game where everyone spawns with the only weapon they’ll ever need. No weapons on the map and spawning with whatever main weapon you want is the reason every big team game devolves into both teams camping different areas and potshotting each other from cover with DMRs.
