Custom Halo Mode

So i was watching a few halo ce: custom edition videos & i was interested in how the game works. 343 should make a mode called “Custom Halo” that is like Custom Editon on Halo 5. It would be like the mother to forge. The idea is better than forge; to actually make your own map! Customize varients, add weapons/vehicles that ain’t in the campaign, add objectives & create your own story mission… even choose what/who you play as in the mode whether it’s an ODST, Mc, spartan, marine, brute, or ANYTHING! Add some enemies to kill ANY ENEMY that has been in all games.

To those who don’t get the idea, go look at some Halo: Custom Edition videos (:

So… mod support?

Yes we do have the power of the xbone now BUT think about it as if it was Forge. It will have its limits and you might not be able to do all the things you would want to do.

Its a great idea but I would prefer if 343 focused on Forge and made it better. Forge needs a lot of improving from H4 and making another mode that is similar would take 343s focus from making Forge the best it can be. (Hopefully 343 makes Forge and not some other company.)

If Forge was the focus we could do some pretty amazing things.

Maybe after the release maybe we could see a map making type thing.

The only real difference I see is the ability to create a canvas, place some extra vehicles you don’t normally see, add AIs, and play as characters that you usually can’t play as. Most of this stuff you can do in Forge like make a map, place weapons, place vehicles, create an objective, and play the game.

In Forge 343 could easily add vehicles that you don’t usually see and place AIs. Forge could definitely have AIs because GTAs Content Creator allows you to do it and that is on the 360. So it wouldn’t make a difference if it was in Forge or “Custom Halo”.

I am sorry for being such a grumpy pants about this but I don’t think that 343 should use resources on something that is almost like Forge. They just need to make Forge bigger and better.

Yeah, a real map editor would definitely be ideal. The Halo series is long overdue for one and has been for quite some time…

Real map editor + real developer kit. The map editor can probably be done within Forge by:

  1. Adding the ability to texturize and import custom textures (which includes the ability to adjust reflectivity, luminosity, & hue)

  2. Adding the ability to move and specify light sources - especially for interior spaces (probably requires #8 below to be practical)

  3. Having resizable objects (which already exists in the form of kill/safe boundaries)

  4. Adding the ability to specify custom objects with rectangular/curved templates (which already exists in the form of kill/safe boundaries)

  5. Adding objects with movable vertices (i.e., flat planes with vertices connected by splines . . . you just move the vertex and the contour adjusts to suit)

  6. Precision rotation and location (including numeric entry) with sufficient significant digits retained upon save

  7. Having a larger palette of decorative options to choose from (basically, pull decorations from the campaign or other MP maps . . . kind of like how the 2x3 and 2x4 block textures were pulled from Adrift)

  8. Giving the option to save maps with all phased objects fully rendered (lighting generation done once during the save, and object count greatly reduced)

While that won’t give as much flexibility as a full-up developer map package, it will be -Yoink!- close and can be done entirely within the existing Forge engine.

For custom games support (dev kit), I think a new interface is required.

I have come up with the perfect name for this.

Project Guilty Spark

  • The ultimate Halo forge.

It has Halo and a Project Spark reference

I would rather have a good forge canvas map, the ability to create custom sized rectangular blocks, and a return of Anvil from marathon where players were really able to tweak the weapons- spread, rate of fire, change projectiles, etc. Essentially give players the rough options (plus some) we see the devs use when they rebalance weapons.
