Custom Games Stability

I know that Halo 5 is dead and nobody really cares about the game anymore but why do custom games continuously “freeze” for no reason whatsoever? The games mostly freeze when players leave or join a game, but there are random freezes as well. This causes unfair gameplay and often times forces players to restart their game. Additionally, most custom games can not be joined unless they are mostly empty, and often times I will find myself getting errors of the game telling me that I am not able to connect. For a game that boasted 12v12 gameplay with epic battles of epic scales (which is sad considering other games can go up to 150 players nowadays), why is it that custom games with more than 8 players have repetitive freezes and crashes?

Starting off a post with “Halo 5 is dead” usually doesn’t spark very many responses as it devalues the prospect of community positivity. The games occasionally freeze because of a minor bug that happens in the customs browser when there’s either too many people loading into the game at once, too many players leaving at once, or players with mixed connections queue’ing in and out of the game, because the servers in the browser are primarily connection based. As for the random freezes, they don’t happen often and aren’t usually a major issue. As for the “unfair gameplay”, it’s a custom match. “And often forces players to restart their game”. Maybe for you, but for most players I come across a permanent freeze happens around every 1/10-20 freezes (sometimes not even as often as that). Most of the time you can use the Thruster pack to get out of a frozen screen, and repeatedly pressing the system UI button also does the trick. “Most custom games cannot be joined unless they are mostly empty”. I have never seen anyone experience that problem before. The error codes typically happen either after the game has ended and the target host is still loading or if you join the lobby after it is already full (because at that point the game is just telling you the lobby is temporarily inaccessible due to capacity). Another conundrum involving connection errors is if your internet connection is having an issue (temporarily or long running), then the game will also provide you with an error screen. “For a game that boasted 12v12 gameplay with epic battles of epic scales (which is sad considering other games can go up to 150 nowadays)”. You’ll notice Halo 5 came out in 2015, before most of the Battle Royal games and grand scale battlefield games had released, so that quote is just misinformed and complete irrelevant is terms of dating. Not to mention Halo has repeatedly been advertised as a arena shooter, and Warzone was just a new concept that 343 thought would still effectively work with Halo without disrupting the main multiplayer theme, which is far from a Battle Royal or grand scale theme. Not to mention, in comparison to the classic Halo 4v4 and 8v8 scales, 12v12 is a pretty big change in scaling for a game like Halo.
