After playing the Halo:Reach Beta I was disappointed that I was unable to get a feel for the maps and just play alongside friends by playing custom games. With the return of true competitive gameplay I would hope to be able to do a 4v4 practice with players that are involved in the professional scene to tune our skill and get a feel for the game. So 343I, will you ad custom games to the Beta?
I doubt it, unfortunately, past Halo games have never had Custom Games… Giving players only access to matchmaking gives 343i a more controlled environment, there are less chances of things breaking that way.

Isn’t that the point of a beta though, to break things? If anything, 343 SHOULD allow custom games to be used, but only allow 8 players max as to not stress the environment. I would be one of those players that would be in custom games all day just maneuvering around the map, seeing if they missed any areas that allows for wall-breaching or getting to unintended areas. Plus, it allows players to extensively test gametypes for ahy potential glitches. It’s harder to do those in matchmaking because randoms typically ruin the chance to set up for testing said glitches.
I wouldn’t count on it… usually betas only contain matchmaking with select playlists and game types.

That’s a good point, it is important to check everything to make sure we get a quality product…
Now that I think of it, didn’t the Halo 3 Beta enable custom games near the end of its life?
Would be cool, but we’ll have to wait to see. It would also pull a lot of population from the matchmaking which would hurt (if only a little) their ability to measure it’s capabilities in full context. Would be cool to get in a game with some friends and just test out stuff all day long xD
