Ok so I’ve been ranting about this to myself for like the last week now. The reason I barely touch Infinite is because whenever I try to make a custom SWAT gametype for use in custom games, as soon as I select my saved game type in the menus, my game lags for about 6 to 7 seconds, then crashes me out completely, happens every time I try to cool down in Customs.
Anyone else having this issue, because honestly this makes me want to abandon Infinite without even giving it a remote chance. I’ve been dealing with unstable custom games on and off for 6 years with Halo 5, and 343 can’t even get it right out the gate with a shiny new engine. Typically I like 343’s Halos, 4, MCC, even 5 to a degree. But Infinite feels like a combination of all the worst aspects of all those previous titles.
So my question is: Has anyone else crashed out when trying to load up a saved custom game type they made themselves? I feel like I’m the ONLY one experiencing this and it’s driving me nuts!
They have a listed known issue of settings not applying correctly. I found that the only way to guarentee your settings is to make sure you set it before you start. If you back out and return always set your settings again or else they won’t apply. This is known by them and probably on their list to fix soon.
When you select one of the basic game types, save a copy of that first. If you don’t, it will throw all your changes in the trash since for some reason it only saves a copy of the default settings.
Also I can’t play any of the custom games I’ve made because it crashes to desktop after I select one. 343 pls fix.
Your issue is exactly what I’m dealing with I recommend submitting a bug report to 343, make them aware that this is a widespread issue and needs fixing ASAP. This game would be a LOT more tolerable if custom games just worked as they are supposed to.
I had a similar experience, when creating and loading up a saved file for FFA SWAT. I figured it had to do with the update, since I made the file before the update. So I just deleted it out and made another, seemed to fix the issue.
I’ve also had an issue with overrides. Tried adjusting an Arena: FFA Slayer file to make a only Swords match. It showed the overrides on the main Custom Games screen, but once we loaded in, it was default Arena FFA Slayer. Very odd.
Sometimes after the countdown for the round begins, a player will randomly switch sides and can’t be changed until the round starts (the game switches them on their own, they aren’t touching the controller)
The intro scene is bugged for customs. It’ll show the map for a few minutes then go to a black screen and skip the team view and then the round will just begin.
• Any option (such as Score to Win) in a Custom Game lobby does not reset to default when switching game modes.
• After changing the game mode options in the Custom Game lobby for any game mode, changing to a different mode then changing back to the first mode will still show those changed options. The match will start with default options.
• The first time a Custom Game mode is saved in the Mode Editor, changed Override options are missing when viewing that mode under My Files in the Community tab.
• Some Custom Game options do not apply correctly when the match starts.
Custom games are bugged to hell. I was trying to make a Slayer Lite (first to 40, Sidekick start only, 60 ammo, 1 frag, no vehicles, motion detect fast movement/clamber off, 70% team damage) and NONE of my settings are saving after the first save. It’s dumb.
I don’t get how hard it is to release a working game nowadays. They had an entire extra year, you’d think crashing at a -Yoink!- menu wouldn’t be happening by now.
Ok good to know all of this is still happening, in all honesty I uninstalled Infinite after the Tenrai event bs. I don’t like being lied to, especially by companies, a free event should mean everything pertaining to said event will be free.
Honestly I have had more fun playing Halo 5 Super Fiesta SWAT in the last 3 days than I have playing Infinite at all. I recommend taking off the hype glasses and going back to games like H5 and MCC if you want to enjoy Halo games without all the nonesensical day 1 issues of a modern video game that Infinite seems to be plagued with.
The only problem I have with the Custom Game is you cannot save your settings. If you do save your setting the error message say cannot connect to server. What I have found out the game will work if you DO NOT save your settings. Make your game settings and DONT SAVE THEM!
Then go back and hit play and it will work! 343i has to fix this!
