Custom Game Playlists

Hello all,

Here to share a few thoughts. My friends and I have always been dedicated to Halo LAN Custom Game parties. Over the years we’ve been able to make LAN parties happen throughout the titles. Well needless to say people are getting older, married, kids, etc and its hard to make these events happen. So I created group on FB and host monthly events for us to all shoot for and get online to play over XBL. We play classic titles on MCC(works beautifully as a Custom Gaming library) to warm up and then move over to H5 later on in the evening. About once a year we actually get together for a local event. There’s your background.

Wants for Halo 5 Custom Games or future titles:

When I’m essentially “DJing” these Parties, I find myself wishing I had more tools at my disposal as party leader. I want to be able to force teams to red vs blue, preferably with a simple command not buried deep in the menu. Some friends like to be trolls and change teams right before we start the game, essentially like delaying the countdown timer in other titles. We all have these friends. They think its hilarious. So frustrating. Yes, you can save a game variant with team changing off and thats works until you finish a game and the Custom Games lobby defaults to 343 Slayer on Stasis, you’re back at square one. The barn door is open and the children are changing teams. If you’re familiar with hosting CGs, then you know the frustration involved with this scenario. I create a written playlist for us each event to hit various maps and variants across all titles and this kind of stuff wastes a lot of time. When everyones schedules only allow for one night a month, time is precious. It’s even worse when playing with randoms, especially since chat has been disabled/broken since the Customs Browser was implemented. Patiently waiting for that to be addressed too.

So with that I would absolutely love the ability to create playlists in-game. Organize a desired amount of map variant and game type combos as you wish and completely cut out the wasted time in lobby. You could give Party leader the ability to end the playlist at the finish of the current game if changes need to be made. I can’t describe how awesome it would be to pre-build a night of righteous custom gaming and not have to to spend half of it in lobby being trolled by group of manchilds and fighting with the interface. Build the list get everyone in the fire team, start the playlist and your locked into a two hour block of non-stop glorious gaming variety. These could even end up being a commodity in the content browser at some point. Players could build and share their playlists in community just like Maps and Prefabs.

I’m a Custom Gamer at heart. The days of 16 player LAN parties of H2 will always be “The Glory Days” for me. There is no better Halo than when you’re able to scream obscenities at your opponent from across the room. Luckily, I’ve been able to keep the dream alive over the years. Tools like these would just help evolve this style of play and keep players in-game, having fun.

Thoughts?

P.S. #VanguardArmorPlz Some of us worked pretty hard for that armor in H4. Show us some love, please.

So you want the halo custom games to go back to offline, and can connect through LAN? I want that too. I just wish they would stop going more towards online support. Bringing back split-screen
