So I do a lot of forging and play customs with my friends now as we’ve started moving to xbox one and now that we’ve gotten into hosting customs, I’ve found I a few bug’s that really annoy us…
Halo CE:
- Hit registration a little out
- I don’t really do CE just a little fun FFA match we play when we’ve exhausted all the maps we’ve made
Halo 2:
- Can’t really find any major bugs
Halo 2 Anniversary:
- Game’s crash randomly after a round ends or just before a new round starts
- Can’t handle more than about 560 objects on a map
- In forge controls will switch to default randomly
- Lighting issue on Awash (Darkened, takes about 30 seconds to fix itself)
- Grass Panes will sometimes move slightly
- Sometimes Objects won’t spawn in (While it’s fun to run through wall’s it needs to be fixed)
- Game type’s name and descriptions revert to default randomly (really interesting when I try to play Just Keep Driving and I end up putting on Halo Deluxe)
- Gungoose machine gun doesn’t make a sound for about 5 seconds and there is a faint horn sound as well
Halo 3:
- Cannot add gametype label’s in forge making objective based maps useless
Halo 4:
- Forge: Trait zones are useless as you cannot edit their trait’s
Feel free to add any bugs you find
H2A: The random crashes and objects failing to spawn are both related to high object count maps. The objects failing to spawn may be related to players leaving or lagging out mid-game. The number of objects it can handle varies significantly and depends on how many players you try to load it with. For example, one map may work/load with 10 people, but not with 12 people. I have a fairly basic map on Awash with 249 objects and it won’t load with 12 or more players. The high object count issue is the biggest problem in H2A right now in my opinion. If you try to overwrite an existing Gametype then it will replace the name and description with a generic one, so always Save As for gametypes. Temporary history also keeps generic names and descriptions for gametypes so watch out for that.
H3: You can’t apply Gametype labels in forge, so you can’t make objective maps like CTF. Infection can be done without labels which is why those are available.
H4: Derp.
Thanks for the H3 bugs, i’ll add them to the list and it’s weird how H2A works, I have a medium map with 550 ish pieces and it worked fine with 6 people but we then went to play it later with 4 and the game said nope.
Friday night I couldn’t get any trusty maps to work. Sometimes can be something else.
Well let’s hope that they’ve got it all ironed out for halo 5 and keep all the new features (terain, scripting, etc.), cause the forge pallet looked amazing even for a beta, much better than the current concrete and metal textures we have for H2A.
