Having sprint and an AA in H4 this is going to screw up the layout(s) that we have all used over the years(especially with crouch being the b button).
Custom Layouts will probably be one of the better additions to this game.
ITT discuss how this is useful and make your own layout(Ill make mine later)
have they been confirmed yet?
> have they been confirmed yet?
No. This is why I made the thread
It’s been announced that there will be several layouts. Honestly though mine will be as classic Halo as possible, while keeping the Sprint/AA buttons VERY accessible. In a nutshell:
A = Jump
B = Melee (Hold = Assassination)
X = Reload (Hold = Pick up weapon/hit switch/enter-exit vehicle etc.)
Y = Swap Weapons
LT = Grenade
RT = Shoot
LB = Sprint
RB = Armor Ability
LS = Crouch
RS = Zoom
Up D-Pad = Swap Grenades (Hold = Night Vision/Flashlight)
A- Jump
B- Armor Ability
x- Actions (Reload, Activate, etc)
Y- Switch guns
RB- Melee
RT- Shoot
LB- Sprint
LT- Grenade
D Pad- Switch Grenade
LS- Crouch
RS- Zoom/Binoculars
LT: Grenade
RT: Shoot
LB: Sprint
RB: Jump
A: Switch Grenade
X: Action/Reload
Y: Switch Weapon
B: Melee
Left thumbstick: Move/Crouch
Right thumbstick: Look/Zoom
Like some kind of messed up CE/2/Recon/Bumper Jumper hybrid…

This is exactly how I would want mine except night vision/flashlight would be one of the other directions on the D-pad
A= Jump
B= Crouch
X= Reload
Y= Swap Weapons
LT= Melee
RT= Shoot
LB= Grenade
RB= Armor Ability
LS= Sprint(I’m so happy this will be possible for the real control scheme!)
RS= Zoom
D-Pad=Switch Grenade
RT: Fire weapon
LT: Throw Grenade
RB: Melee
LB: Jump
RS: Crouch
LS: Scope
A: Armor Ability
B: Reload
X: Sprint
Y: Switch Weapons
D-pad: Switch Grenades
A - Jump
B - Melee
X - Toggle Crouch
Y - Switch Weapons
RB - Reload/interact
LB - AA
LS - Sprint
RS - Zoom
D-pad (left or right) - Switch Grenades
D-pad (up) - Flashlight
Or
A-Jump
Y-Switch Weapons
B - Toggle crouch
X - Reload/Interact
RB - Melee
LB-AA
LS-Sprint
RS-Zoom
Dpad left/right - Grenade toggle
Dpad up -Flashlight
Or even
RB - Reload/Interact
LB - Sprint
Left Trigger - Grenade
Right Trigger - Fire Weapon
A - Jump
B - Melee
Y - Switch Weapons
X - Crouch
RS - zoom
LS - AA
Dpad up - Flashlight
Dpad Left/Right - Switch Grenades
Sincerely I’m fine with my bumper jumper.
Classic Halo:
LT= Grenades
RT= Shoot
LB= Sprint
RB= Action/Reload
Y= Switch
X= Armor Ability
B= Melee
A= Jump
RS= Look/Zoom
LS= Move/Crouch
D-Pad Left & Right= Switch Grenades
D-Pad Up & Down= Whatever else is in store for us
If I could, I’d have Halo 2’s button layout, obviously I’d have to have a button for my AA and sprint.
I thought reload on X, Grenade on Left Trigger, Melee on B and change weapon on Y felt natural, I don’t like the Reach standard controls.
LT = Throw grenade
RT = Fire weapon
LB = Sprint
RB = Armor ability
Y = Switch weapon
X = Reload
B = Melee
A = Jump
RS = Look
LS = Move
RC = Zoom
LC = Crouch
D-Pad = Choose grenade type
Having Sprint/Ability being mapped to both bumpers is a good plan since it allows the player to not have to remove their thumbs from the sticks while either sprinting or using an ability.
This also allows for the classic stick/face button layout to remain intact as well as giving easier access to the correct grenade type using the d-pad instead of having to cycle through them like previous games.
However, I’ve gotten so used to having Reload on the RB since Halo 3 that it may take some getting used to playing the old-school button layout again. If all else fails I can always swap the ability and reload. I won’t be able to look while using something like a jet pack, but I plan on sprinting most of the time anyway.
am I the only person in the world that just goes default no matter what?
I’ve played games were the jump button is B instead of A and I still don’t change the layout…
I’m normally like you (Heck I played Morrowind on default where LT was jump) but something about sprinting with LS and crouching with B Doesn’t work for Halo in my head, I may just have to see how it plays
As Halo as possible. I sure as hell won’t crouch with the B button. That’s stupid as hell.
A = zoom
B = Melee (Hold = Assassination)
X = sprint
Y = shoot
LT = Melee (Hold = Assassination)
RT = Swap Weapons
LB = Reload (Hold = Pick up weapon/hit switch/enter-exit vehicle etc.)
RB = Armor Ability
LS = Crouch
RS = grenade
Up D-Pad = Swap Grenades (Hold = Night Vision/Flashlight)
