Please, am I the only Halo Reach player that didn´t like any of the controller configurations in the game? Bungie could include a “custom” controller option in thee next patch. Does anyone agree with that ? Wouldnt be great to choose the exact action for every button in the controller ?
I can’t say I would particularly use it, I’m pretty happy with the Boxer configuration, but I do agree. I think there should be a “Custom” set up, that would allow you to map the buttons how you like. Loads of games have them now, so why not Halo?
Custom controller options would help a lot. I remember switching to Recon because it looked the most familiar, then wondering why nothing happened when I went to use Sprint. I then went to change Grenades (after acquiring Armour Lock) and going into the Third-Person Iron Man pose. I’ve gotten used to it now, but the newer players obviously haven’t. Custom setups would be great.
Amen. I have gotten used to the recon set up. But in Halo 3 I was a bumper jumper. alas bumper jumper in reach makes it rather hard to use abilities. try jet packing while holding X and trying to track someone and shoot is too much for me. or even sprinting and changing direction (more like glide sideways while running, anyway) is hard. so yeah, it would be cool. but recon is working for me pretty well anyway
> or even sprinting and changing direction (more like glide sideways while running, anyway) is hard.
you know you don’t have to hold x to sprint right? you just tap it and it stays on until you slow down.
i’ve been happy with bumper jumper. i don’t like the jetpack anyway so that doesn’t bother me much. having jump and melee at your finger tips without moving your thumbs is still a nice advantage.
the problem with allowing users to remap their entire controller is that it’s nearly impossible to test to make sure there aren’t weird bugs when you use A to shoot, for example. also, they want to make it easy for you to pick a setup that will work well. they don’t want people having a crappy time because they have their controller setup all messed up. that’s one part about bungie i don’t particularly agree with. they’re always trying too hard to protect us and make sure we’re experiencing their game the way it was intended. another example of this is how they just recently turned on matchmaking for the campaign. of course, there are other developers that are/were more guilty of trying too hard to protect our experience. coughinfinitywardcough
