So, If you make a challenge set to “kill X target Y times”, there are some unusual options.
Sepefically, Spartans and Scarabs.
I’m assuming the former does NOT mean players, because there is a seperate option for “elite player”.
This of course, begs the question: Are there other spartans that are killable, or scarabs?
Why else would the setting be there?

Scarabs aren’t kill-able in Reach. The only times you see them are in 2 cut scenes and on the mongoose run on Pillar of Autumn in which, you can’t interact with it. We talked about it the other night while running through said mission.
Possibly a glitched setting?
Could be glitched, an oversight. Currently, there is no way to kill the Scarabs; hell boarding one in Reach is tough enough.
As for Elite player and Spartan player; obviously these challenges are finished by playing Invasion (Elites and Spartans), normal slayer gametypes (good ol Spartns) and Elite Slayer (wort?) (depends on the corresponding challenge). At least that’s what i’ve come to believe, chances are i could be wrong.
I have boarded a scarab before(dont ask how) and detroyed the power core in the back.
