Custom challenges / Daily credit cap - Other questions for 343

I hear that 343 really reads what the players say in the forums and try to fix the issues. So hopefully this post doesn’t go unnoticed.

The freshest thing on my mind is the daily credit limit. A quick check of my game history will show you that I don’t play much firefight (only one game in the last 3 days and it was to find something out) I don’t boost, nor do I know a way to cheat or credit farm, however I hit the daily credit limit every day. By my own admission I do perhaps play the game too much. I play at night (midnight to 4 or 5 am) with my friends and usually a couple of hours again the following afternoon, which is when I hit the cap.

My point is that the credit cap should be higher, so that players do not cap out from legitimate playing. This also brings up my next issue. I had set custom challenges today, and while working towards them I hit the credit limit. I played one more game to finish the challenges and turned them in. I was very happy to see that I was given all the credits my challenges had earned me, despite the credit cap, only to be disappointed later on to find out my credits had been taken back away. My feelings on this are that daily, weekly, and custom challenges should not count towards your credit cap, and should be rewarded even after you have maxed out.

As for other issues, here are a few notes and thoughts…

  1. When will the TU beta be over and the info used be added to every playlist? I was under the impression that this would happen when Anniversary was added on the 15th.

  2. The Anniversary playlist plays flawlessly I believe, however the beta seems to have horribly over powered grenades. I do support and like the changes made to armor abilities and bleed-through however.

  3. Achievements for Anniversary need to be fixed. Achievements should be able to be earned in any map, not just a defiant or anniversary map. For example, the Last man standing achievement that is meant for defiant is flawed, considering that there are no zombie gametypes available in a defiant map.

  4. Every playlist should include maps from all of the map packs including anniversary in normal rotation. I personally believe that players without all downloadable content should be regulated to a small community playlist, while all DLC should be needed to play in competitive playlists, much like Halo 3 did with social and ranked playlists. I understand 343 not wanting to force the community to buy DLC, but it punishes those who have paid the money. At the very least a “DLC plus” play category should be made, allowing those with DLC to play team slayer, swat, snipers, BTB, etc gametypes on their DLC maps while original maps are also in circulation.

  5. I enjoy community maps. Renova might just be one of my favorites, but is it at all possible to track which maps get voted for the most and which maps get 0 votes the most? It could be solely my opinion, but I hate maps such as Enclosed, Kingdom, & Mt. Lam Lam, and seriously consider quitting and taking the penalty each time one gets voted so that I can save myself the 15 mins of anger and frustration in which I am not having fun playing the game. (Having fun is the idea of all video games right?) Is there maybe a way we could come up with to vote maps in and out of rotation?

I am sure there are topics I am not touching on, and I may for suggestions for those as well later on. But I thought this was a good starting point. I’d love to hear feedback from other players, and I’d especially love to see some changes and answers from 343. Thanks in advance for everyone’s opinions.

I agree, it seems about time that we get an official Q&A session with someone at 343i regarding custom challenges.

As for the credit cap, I’m also in agreement. It was a good idea when Reach was new, as it stopped exploiters and boosters from reaching Inheritor in 2 days. But by now, with the refinements to the Banhammer, it seems that all (or most) forms of boosting are eventually met with a cR ban or a reset.

By now, a good chunk of the remaining population of Reach is probably dedicated fans and die-hard players (such as myself). Coupled with custom challenges and the increased payouts at high ranks , I think it makes sense to remove the credit cap (or at least raise it a fair bit).

I am absolutely fine with raising the credit cap as opposed to removing it… At the very least make challenges & commendations exempt from the credit limit. This way, even though we are not earning credits during every game we are still rewarded for the milestones we hit. Think of it as an incentive program. Seems fair to me.

i have a problem where i cant seem to turn in my custom challenges … why?

Agreed with the first part but you are wrong about the second. I have played two games in Living Dead where DLC maps have surfaced, one of which was Condemned.

If I’m not mistaken the maps are in every playlist but everyone you get paired with needs to have them in order for them to appear as a choice.

343 has taken steps by updating matchmaking functions and claimed the system would now try to pair players who already have the DLC with others in the same boat. In the end though I’m of the firm belief that the maps need to be a requirement if one intends to play competitive matchmaking. There’s no sense in releasing new items to marketplace if they’ll just be ignored by a majority of an already less-than impressive population. Leniency only goes so far in business.

Well in to H3, the Heroic maps became free and Bungie even gave everyone a freebie in the form of Cold Storage, all of which appeared frequently during voting after they were made mandatory requirements. I’m not saying 343 should follow suite but with the holidays approaching it wouldn’t hurt to force Noble sales and possibly even do a package deal; with Noble/Defiant bundled at 400-500 MS points.

Tonight I did actually see this in effect and was surprised. We did seem to get grouped up with the same players a lot (4 games in a row) so maybe this was 343’s attempt to pair us with players who also had the DLC. I’m happy to see it though.

Remove the credit cap!

That is all.

yes there shouldnt be a credit cap. that is bull crap. and regardless of people credit farming or not they should fix any and all glitches to people receiving those earned credits. im still in the process of trying to get 343i to give me 36315 Cr that i should have received at midnight last night that i still dont have. this is very irritating

Oh geez, there are all ready WAY too many current/recent credit cap threads going on. Why resurface this one?

Sounds good, but then people would just boost with CC wayyyy over the limit, if 343 does what you want they should make it so you can’t make CC when you’re credit capped.

Also, there is a defiant zombie map, but no one seems to have DLC.

I too am very dissapointed with this because i should of been awarded many credits at 12/23 and 12/24 from completing many custom challenges.

Please don’t bring up old threads that have already been addressed.

Credit Cap increased? It has. 300,000 credits per day is pretty up there. I usually only hit it by completing a weekly challenge.

To my understanding, no credits get lost with weekly or daily challenges. I could be wrong… Checking now…

Yup… On the records for 12-16-2012, I earned 314,849 credits in one day legitimately. For the rest of the day I couldn’t earn credits but that probably cost me less than 50,000 credits max because I played less than 10 games after I hit cap.

Thank you guys at 343 for increasing it to 300k it’s a pretty cozy place to stay. But further increases would be a slap to the face for any1 who put in the hours and already maxed out their ranks.
