custom armor

So my small clan was using one service tag to represent ourselves as a team but it got confusing calling out weapon drops to the player beside us. found a solution while i was checking out forza 3 a very long time ago, game wasn’t for me but the paint jobs edit deal was brilliant, even saw one with halo ce on the hood, and i thought, this would be great as an advanced color selection in halo… and i mean hey, forge art took off like a rocket. why not something like this in halo 4. I also had a thought on armor effects… there should be more of them. a cool death one would be a slow motion fall, but thats coolest with a ragdoll engine like the unreal 3. but why not a smoke full body, or a gore death effet with blood drops similar to the pestilence footprints. i’m sure that list could go on forever and people will have far better ideas than me here. halo is about making the player feel immersed, all the way back to 2001 when john never had a face - Reach with custom armor, but the most noticeable thing is armor effect, and it seems to have been mostly ignored in favor of making a ton of shoulders and chests which are far less noticeable in game, so why not take it a step further make 30 armor effects and at least this color idea for FFA games. bs angel you should pass this up to the multiplayer team on halo 4, imagine your screenshot section then.

I totally agree, a paint job editor for your armor would be utterly awesomeness in a FPS, and I was actually planning on getting this idea introduced into an FPS, but was gonna wait till I was working in the industry before I went around telling everyone, but if any FPS beats others to it with armor paint jobs, it should be halo.

this is something that could take some time to put into the game, but like you said, it has a ton of potential for screen shots and if anything, making the game feel ten times as immersive to say the least. I for one, buy games simply on a customization premise on occasion, just cause I’m an artist and it’s an outlit for me to show my talents, but I don’t think this has been attempted in a console game before except with Armored Core 4 answer and it’s decal system for your AC paint job, but even then you couldn’t totally draw it like in Forza.

now it might be asking a bit much for the ability to draw on your Mljonir armor, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be one of the coolest features the FPS genre has ever seen on console, and could be a contributing selling point for many people.

as for armor effects, I think those could be more diverse. I liked the ones in reach, but I would like to see something like, an effect for each elemental, and ones that follow your character model, so it’d look like your armor had lightning coming off of it, rather than a storm cloud inside of your chest that follows you. also, I think stuff like “birthday party” should be more of a “player option” rather than a player specific armor effect. something that effects everyone in a match that you come into contact with. this way it can be turned on/off for any individual that doesn’t like it in their game, and for those that do, everyone they kill will have it, in addition to their armor effect. it’d be sort of like activating cheats for multiplayer, like big heads mode or paintball mode, only they wouldn’t be cheats, just players options for fun. perhaps stuff like that wouldn’t be standard, and would need to be unlocked or earned.

anyway, armor decals for the win.
