Current Weapons in Cutscenes

I liked the feature in Halo 2 and some of Halo 3 where cutscenes would show the playable character carrying the weapon that they were carrying when the level ends. I’m surprised they took it out after Halo 2. I thought it was a neat features. I hope they can do this in Halo 4. It’s not much, but adds to the consistency.

In the end it just adds a lot of extra layers of work that needs to be done to make sure the scene still functions and looks good. Think about the difference of a pistol compared to a rocket launcher. In the end we’ll probably just have a default Rifle.

For some reason, this is something I really liked in Halo 2. I specifically remember the beginning of Delta Halo, with the sudden acquisition of a beam rifle :P. (EDIT OH, and killing the scarab wielding a pistol…like a boss.)

Meh. It’d be a cool thing, but not super important for me.

It certainly adds a lot of immersion; I’m all for it.

I loved it when i would finish a mission in Halo 2 with the skull in hand and in the cut-scene i’m holding it!! LoL

Sometimes I would even start the next level with gun I had from the last level.

Well, the fact of the matter is, is that Halo prides itself in the fact that it uses in-game rendering and models for the cutscenes; they aren’t completely separate CGI sequences.

I remember way back towards the beginning of our wait for Halo 4 (the beginning of our Great Journey) that 343i confirmed that they are sticking with that same aforementioned technique. And with today’s game development techniques and technology, I can guarantee you, that, while sticking with this technique, that we will be seeing our own guns in cutscenes

Yeah both our weapons appearing in cutscenes and carrying over into the next level needs to return.

The former adds immersion, the latter allows encounters to play out differently (not to mention the easter egg of starting out with a Spartan Laser on the last level and the glitch of having infinite Energy Sword battery).

I hated Reach campaign starting weapons. Only 2 levels where we got something other than the usual crap:

-Nightfall (sniper rifle)
-ToTS (grenade launcher)

The AR and pistol were usually instant drop while the DMR rarely had enough ammo to last even 1 fight.

Reach’s campaign loadouts were just bad. I was surprised that they didn’t have the current weapons in cutscenes, especially since they were able to have our custom models.

Same here.

It could have immersed better if the weapons showed up.

I loved most games that paid attention like that to detail always goes along way for me with the slightest detail’s kept throughout the game.

Hopefully the weapons carry over, they can just add a weapon cache or something to suit the mission.

Like in the frankie video (euro expo)forerunner mission there was a weapon type cache thing at the beginning of that checkpoint

weapon caches are so obvious though. Like in MW3’s spec ops, you start with a blanket covered with weapons. I think Halo does it well, with the armories in some levels.

I do hope we get that back sooner rather than later. I hope they at least show the weapons you are have at the beginning of the level unlike the say two betrayals.

It is not vital but it is a detail that I really appreciate.
