Current UNSC VS Covenant at its peak

Hey guys, I have missed the most recent novels that came out after Halo 3, but seeing how much more advanced and well off the UNSC is doing compared to the days of Reach and Halo: Combat Evolved. I realize how much John-117 meant in winning the war from destroying Unyielding Hierophant to the events of Halo 2. So the question is, If the UNSC were to face off against the Covenant Empire at its strongest, would UNSC’s new Spartans demolish through the ranks of the movie scums, or Covenant’s massive armada would have glassed over ever human made object created?
And it also looks like UNSC’s Requiem and has been holding off well against covenant and even forerunner forces

Would all previous UNSC personnel and ships come back to life and be repaired and be upgraded to the technology the UNSC posses currently, or would it just be the current state and population of the UNSC vs the Covenant Empire at its height? In which that brings in the same question of whether or not the Covenant gain all their lost ships and personnel and upgrade them too.

The Covenant Empire would be victorious against the current UNSC easily. It would have loads more Assault Carriers and Supercarriers which are greater than or equal to the Infinity. Not to mention the exponential disparity in population in fleet size. Even if the UNSC had the Infinity during the war, they would not be able to defeat the Covenant. Although the Infinity would have certainly saved more colonies, maybe even Reach, and would be a huge help in Operation: Red Flag. So if the old UNSC had current UNSC tech, the Covenant would not be as victorious as they were, and humanity would have more time to plan and act.

The Covenant wins easy. Despite being more technologically advanced at its conclusion, Humanity was severely weakened by the war, losing 23 billion people, most of their colonies, and the vast majority of their fleet. Even the Infinity, which is by far the most powerful human ship, is only on par with a Covenant Assault Carrier (both being a little over 5km in length), which the Covenant had many of, and is still severely outclassed by Covenant Super Carriers (which are 28km in length). On the ground, a few Spartan IV’s wouldn’t make a difference. Spartan’s are only marginally more powerful/skilled than elite Sangheli (ha!) warriors, and they are outnumbered a million to one by the Elites alone. When you factor in half a dozen other races, Humanities current military strength would be wiped away easily.

In the end, Covenant at their peak had a vastly superior fleet/military in terms of numbers, weaponry, and (debatably) technology than humanity now.

Modern humanity in Halo is one of the weakest main factions in sci-fi that I know of lol. But that’s the point. They survived overwhelming odds and even though they’ve gotten stronger, they are still weak compared to everything else. Except for Jul’s covenant because he had no idea what he was doing post Didact.

The Covenant would win, remember what the UNSC said, the Covenant is technologically superior and they have more alien species to assist. The Covenant also rarely lost in space and when they were on the ground the battles for the UNSC were very costly. Yes UNSC has ships with shields now and are powerful, but the Covenant at its height would destroy them, there is a reason why the plan was to capture a Hierarch they couldn’t win by traditional means.

The Covenant would still have obliterated the UNSC.

However, withe the Infinity and the Spartan IVs, the UNSC may have been able to pull of Red Flag and end the war through diplomacy, rather than by force.

I once read a post on why there are different types of Wraiths and other covenant vehicles. (Such as the Type-26 Assault Gun Carriage and Type-58 Light Assault Gun Carriage). I heard during the invasion of Earth and other later war campaigns, the Covenant started producing cheaper models of the vehicles to make use of mass quantity but sacrificing armor and fire power. Is this the lore reason for the difference? Or just gameplay

I’d say gameplay. Making something worse for more doesn’t sound like the Covenant.

That’s what happened when High Charity fell and the Sangheili lost a lot of industries. Also when a civil war ravages entire star systems it’s better to produce cheeper and more expendable models that are also cheeper to maintain even if they have a few drawbacks compared to previous models. However, only the phantom and wraith are known to have gone such a change as for the most part the Sangheili produce upgraded models of weapons and vehicles compared to those during the war, like the new banshee model, which features an Energy shield.
