Current halo 3 player base?

Hello everyone, I am posting this too see if anyone can give me a rough number to how many people still play halo 3 online in the “ranked” playlist, as I can only ever find the odd game in lone wolves and even then most of the other players are just inactive and don’t move which makes playing the match un-enjoyable.

Ive only started playing halo 3 again due to wanting to accomplish a life long goal of mine of reaching 50 skill and becoming a general in rank. I first started playing halo 3 online in roughly 2008 maybe which would have made me 11 years old so this made me not quite as good a gamer which I am today but never the less during the time when halo 3 was still at its peak I did manage to get my highest skill to 43 and reach the rank of “Colonel grade 2”.

after that I pretty much started to drift too other titles such as halo reach and call of duty etc etc pretty much forgetting about halo 3 all together, but then many years later it came back on the Xbox one as a backward compatible title and I saw this as maybe a second chance to reach my goal but unfortunately that didn’t happen due to a hacker being in most of the matches I was playing which ruined the experience for me so once again I just gave up and forgot about halo 3.

Then the MCC was coming out and I thought that would have been my 3rd time lucky to reach my goal I was so excited to play halo 3 again and start from fresh to make my way up to that 50 skill all while going through the basic ranks to get there, but the more I looked into the online for MCC I found out halo 3 wouldn’t have the old ranking system it once did and this broke my heart but I still purchased the MCC to play halo 3 again but it didn’t feel right not only because the ranks I wanted weren’t in the game but because weapon spawns on the map weren’t the same, where there should have been a sniper or rocket launcher it was something different but I still got a couple of weeks out of it before I eventually moved onto other games.

the reason Im playing halo 3 again is due to a video I watched which was shot like an in game red vs blue series style camerawork and voice acting and at the end of said video the one of the players says thanks for helping with the map and I’ll see you tomorrow, and the other player says for sure but the clip changes to just show one player ever returning and this one video hit home so much for me as halo 3 was the game I first started playing online, it was the game where I made so many new friends over Xbox love from all around the world it wasn’t the game I would have the most laughs on and would spend hours and hours playing at the weekends and now it’s sad to see the the game that will always be my favourite and will always have a place in my heart slowly come to an end. “Video Linked at the bottom of the post”

sorry for making this so long but all I want to know is if there will ever be a time or an event which will bring the population back for the original halo 3 multiplayer if not, is there any possibility of the ranking system from halo 3 being introduced into halo 3 in th MCC.

thank you for your time reading this and to those Xbox 360 avatars that never woke up the next day after playing halo 3 for the last time sleep well and sweet dreams.

if anything I’ve said is not allowed or if this is posted in the wrong place apologies it’s my first time posting here.

It’s not possible to even give a rough number as the population counter is broken. I would say a few hundred people still play.

In addition, I think it would be extremely difficult to reach rank 50 nowadays. You could possibly do it in Lone Wolves, but even then it would be a challenge as the population is so low and high ranked matches are infested with hackers. Honestly, I don’t think there’s any point in going for 50 these days.

Well I’m 41 skill in ranked slayer and even after waiting 30 minutes or more I still can’t find any players within that skill range, but in lone wolves I’ve managed to go from 19 to 23 in a few hours but that has only been possible due to me being able to get in a game with some other players rather than the same 4 I was always facing, because I read somewhere that I’d you always played the same people after a certain amount of games your skill wouldn’t rise anymore, but never the less I’ll continue for as long as possible to try and reach my goal

If you do get to 50 then I commend you

Yeah it’s difficult. I want to get a 50 since my highest was 40 but it’s extremely difficult to find ranked matches. Social has no problems.

Let me know how you get on. If you get consistent matches at 40 in Lone Wolves then I may attempt it myself too.

For me it always says 1328 gamers online

Ooo JOSH C ooO2 and James060394,

The Old Warriors still play the original Lone Wolves regularly! Search during peak hours on weeknights and weekends and you will get a match about 75% of the time. Come Rumble in the Pit and get that 50!

FYI, I regularly post my Lone Wolves videos (currently LVL 47) to raise awareness that the community is still active:

Also,

> high ranked matches are infested with hackers

“Infested” is not accurate; it happens but is surprisingly rare. Honestly with more people, it would be easier to combat the cheaters - i.e. with 6 players in a Lone Wolves match rather than only 4.

you can find games at low ranks in slayer, mlg, lw and team doubles most weekend nights. Also the same if youre matching against 50s at those times. Other than that, its almost impossible to find anything out of social slayer or btb

Which is incorrect. The population counter is bugged. You can fix this by re-installing Halo 3, but it’ll still say random numbers regardless.

At current estimations, I’d say Halo 3’s population is less then 50 concurrent players per day.
