At this moment, what do you think is the best all around precision rifle in the game?
My opinion hasn’t changed much. Carbine is still my pick. In the hands of a skilled player, it’s relentless. What it lacks in damage output it makes up for with sheer speed and semi-auto accuracy - semi-auto WITHOUT random bloom.

I have been using the carbine since day one and I have carried a considerable KD. The carbine is as you said needed in the hands of a skilled player if you are good use it if not I guess you gotta be like every other un-skilled player with a BR. ( Tis to forgiving in this game ) Get a good strafe to ya and you will be fine.
I’d say that the Battle Rifle is most used and the BEST precision weapon at the moment, with it’s 4-shot (last one being a headshot, of course) kills. You can also obtain a kill with 2 shots and follow it with a single melee.
However, my personal favourite weapon is the Carbine. It’s much more fun to use and I am better at wielding it.

I think if people just learned how to use it and got some practice they’d do fine. I don’t consider the Battle Rifle to lack skill but it’s definitely easier to master. It was the same way in Halo 3 - Carbine was better but only if used properly.
Except in Halo 3 it was less accurate from a distance. Now there’s almost no excuse not to use the Carbine.
Anyways, it’s either that or the Light Rifle on really large maps for me. I don’t like what the Battle Rifle is in Halo 4 and the DMR…well that just makes me want to puke. It reminds me of Reach and its -Yoink- too much and should have not been included.
On most maps the BR is the most useful. On bigger maps its the DMR or light rifle.
The carbine still seems to be the worst. Everybody I face using a carbine gets smacked.
Lifhtrifle has shortest killtime.

Obviously you have never faced me.
(This is most likely because I seen a lot of poorly skilled players try to use it)

I have faced many great players and nobody I thought was good uses the carbine. The BR kills faster and is easier to use. There is no reason to use the carbine.
Carbine. The Battle Rifle, sadly, is a shell of its former self. How anyone could pick it is beyond me. The idea that “nobody good uses it” is complete -Yoink-. I’ve seen people that demolish players with one in ways I just don’t see with the BR anymore (like how it performed in H3).

The BR in this game kills faster than H3.
In fact only the scoped LR kills faster in H4. Again I have never seen a carbine user at higher levels. It doesn’t compete with the BR in the hands of a decent player.
Halo 4 players in a nutshell, use whats easier and claim everything else bad until a patch hits and then they move to another easy rifle.
Been lovin the carbine since day 1

That’s because everything kills faster in this game than Halo 3 - you just die quicker in Halo 4, period.
They made a stupid decision in attempting to balance the battle rifle for this game by adding the recoil in an exchange for a slightly faster rate of fire. On top of that, leading your shots seems to be much less important making the weapon much more accessible. It was perfect the way it was in H3 but they -Yoinked!- it up.
If you’ve “never seen a carbine user at higher levels”, I have, many actually. Especially since CSR is nothing compared to the ranking system in Halo 3 and a high rank is nothing to be remotely proud of. Seeing as most people have theirs in an individual scoring playlist, it’s as simple as hanging back from a distance with a sniper/light rifle and picking guys off, team performance being utterly irrelevant. The only thing individual scoring should apply to is FFA playlists, and it should be dependent on whether you win or not, not things like your kill count or K/D ratio.
It depends on what you mean by best. But for me best=statistically. And the DMR is still the best stats wise.

The carbine should kill faster than the BR because it is harder to use.
You can’t fault players for using the best weapon.
Since the update, the BR is the all around best rifle. The other rifles can best it in niche areas, but it still remains the all around king. Though the stated goal of the TU was to balance them all, I think it was no mistake that the BR ended up being the best all around weapon.
BR, of course.
Kills faster, is very forgiving and can be used outta cover by peek-shooting its bursts. Carbine is also suspectible to lag and gives away your position, it’s awful. I’m using it, but I don’t deny like people here the BR’s superior in EVERY way.

Agreed. I think DMR is best due to it’s all around balance overall with also ZERO randomness.

It needs a damn rate of fire nerf, by a small hair. It would still excell at mid-range (as intended) but only it wouldn’t stand up and lay down AR and at times shotgun users. It goes toe to toe with those two weapons no questions asked.
In terms of preference, Carbine and LightRifle
But the BR is the easiest to use, by far
Overpowered BR is overpowered. Can’t even use automatics anymore against a reasonably good team. It’s too easy to use.
