Curious Question About the Mantis

When you fire the rockets on the mantis with one trigger pull all rockets will fire. Now if you hold the trigger as if you’re charging the shot, they all fire again. Is their any functionality to charging them, is it more powerful, does it make the rockets travel faster, or is it a developer mistake?

Holding down the trigger doesn’t increase the Mantis’ rocket velocity or damage. Only real use I see for charging them is ambushing opponents who come around a corner.

It allows for a delayed firing similar to the railgun likely so you can aim your shot better. It’s very doubtful that it was a mistake considering they would’ve noticed that in early testing.

The only reason I suspected it to be a mistake was because of its functionality in Halo 4 where the Vehicle first debuted. It fired a single rocket with each individual trigger pull. Charging the shot added to the amount of rockets firing at once, and I was quite fond of this mechanic. I guess I was just surprised that the developers chose to change that.

It may also be a remnant (or tribute) to the way the mantis functioned in H4. For those that may not remember or know, a tap would only fire one rocket and to fire all loaded rockets one had to charge up by holding L down.

It didn’t surprise me since that wasn’t the only thing they changed about the Mantis. I didn’t like the previous version of the charging or how it functioned so I’m actually in favor of this one.
