Hey guys so I’m pretty new here on halo waypoint as i finally have my own xbox one, I’ve been playing halo since i was a kid with my brothers friends xbox then after that i’ve been a huge fan of the halo lore while watching clips and a bunch of cutscenes of each and every halo, I’ve also been playing the halo custom edition for nearly my entire life and once I’ve gotten my hands on my own xbox one just last year on December, I’ve been now playing halo 5 and the MCC collection for nearly a whole month now.
Since that’s my introduction about myself, I’ve been a huge fan of the lore and also been taken quite a huge interest in halo maps especially maps for halo 1. Why? Because the way how bungie developed and made these structures have always been a curiosity for me but also they seem to have a purpose within each and every map. For example the forerunner structures, of course for gameplay and multiplayer wise, they always seem to have a purpose within the installation, for example Blood Gutch, an abandoned site with two outposts that are forerunner made. What are the purposes of these structures? Who knows, but has been quite a curiosity for me. Then there are the beam emitters, as a kid when i first looked upon the structure I’ve tried to analyze what it does, where does it shoot up to, does it shoot to another beam emitter on the far other side of halo? Does it stabilize the halo’s gravity? It always catches me as a very curious structure, maybe bungie just wanted to make it look cool for the players to discover. Or maybe they intentionally made these structures to make us explore. Mission 2 of halo 1 was quite a blast for me since it was a big mission, almost kind of felt like an open world since there were a lot of places to back track to, then of course there was the structure where you first activate a light bridge. What was that structure’s purpose?
Of course there are the maps too, such as Hang Em High, that one was a very curious map… apparently it was a forerunner warehouse or factory or some sort which I read, then all of a sudden when the anniversary edition came out, they remade the map into an “aftermath” which again made it more curious for me. Was this map in a middle of the desert? Everything was all covered in sand then suddenly THERE’S A FREAKING PORTAL RIFT THAT JUST OPENED, what is the purpose of that? Was this the after math of installation 04? Why did that portal open. And why are there small pillars on the ground? What were their purpose for the warehouse?
It’s like the forerunner masterbuilders just decided to build whatever the hell they wanted to, hell another curious map was “Wizard” its on halo installation 04 but where is it in the middle of? And what on earth’s purpose was the map for? I’m interested in most of the maps lores and why were they built, maybe someone can make up on what wizard was for?
Anyways another one as well was gephyrophobia seriously that is a really big freaking map, and i have no idea why the forerunners built it but its pretty freaking cool. If anyone can also make any kind of lore about it, that would be awesome.
And of course my favorite, “Prisoner” at first i was a bit curious in where this map was located within the halo ring until… when the anniversary edition came out, everything was all snow, so maybe the map was within the snowy region of the halo ring or unless the aftermath of the ring’s destruction, the weather must’ve went berserk or something like that.
Sorry about me elaborating about my curiosity as i have said that many times, but like i said, the maps have always taken a big interest in me
