Maybe the old “jackpot” system?
The longer you go without quitting the more points you get.
These points only affect cumulative score challenges
Higher performing players naturally get more points, without a jackpot.
But lower skilled get a small bonus like 500 + jackpot
As long as they didn’t afk
That’s not how the old jackpot system worked.
The whole point of the endgame score is to show how well you performed in that game. You shouldn’t get extra points for finishing a game. That would defeat the whole purpose.
I’m aware. My point is, the challenge system is trash and it shouldn’t be excused for being trash.
Cumulative score is a step in the right direction but is by no means a permanent solution.
I’m not even going for completion. I know I can’t because I don’t have the time. I’ve never gotten a single weekly reward. The closest I’ve gotten was when I forced myself to play every day after a 10 hour workday for an hour and then on my One day off I had time to play for about 5 hours (I was mainly trying to finish the season 1 bp before season 2 started) and I got close to finishing, but the capstone was for precision rifle headshots which I’m not the best at. So with only like 30 minutes left I now have to get however many headshots they were asking for. So that’s literally impossible for me. To be honest I’ve never been that interested in completing any of the weeklies because the rewards usually aren’t that interesting or I know I don’t have the time, but when challenges are the only way to progress and unlock cosmetics other than dumping money into the store for overpriced digital goods.
This system just has so many issues. Challenges are the only way to progress in any bp whether it’s paid, free or an event. It’s all challenge based progression. So if you’re not finishing challenges you’re not progressing. Unless you pay for bs level skips. Most of the cosmetics are locked behind a paywall and player customization has been choked out by bottlenecking it through a store. No one looks very unique because everyone just uses the same new shiny coating and armor from the store. You can’t enjoy playing with friends because everyone has different challenges so you can’t stay together if you want to progress. You can’t play the game the way you want if you’re interested in progression. I like the current The Yappening event, it’s big team fun, but after I finish a challenge for it I instantly have a challenge for rumble pit. Freaking rumble pit is the exact opposite of big team. Go from two big teams fighting it out in wacky game modes to solo free for all basic slayer and oddball… yea. Okay 343i lets play all the games you want me to play instead of what I’d like to play during my limited time with this game. None of that is fun.
