The real issue is that cumulative score is basically a complete ? games challenge. It just doesn’t have a set number of matches. Which rewards good players for playing well and is still completable by lower skill players. But that’s both the good and bad thing, it’s just another complete so many games challenge which is dumb/bad. It makes your ability to judge how long it’ll take to finish inaccurate and frustrates lower level players. Higher level players don’t care because they just finish it super fast. It’s fine for one and terrible for another. Of course they don’t really care to change things because that’s more work and it could encourage challenge swaps.
Probably troll but you don’t do better solo? I have a few friends silver or lower and yea if they play with me, it takes them forever to get 5000 score, but solo they still do it in 4-6 games I’d say.
Actually this raises a good point. Some players are not very good, or maybe you just hate the mode that the challenges wants you to play. Seeing as challenges are the only way to progress this would be better accessibility for FPS newbies, lower skilled players, and make annoying challenges less of a hassle. I would probably reduce it to 2500 at a maximum however.
If challenges were purely optional instead of the only means of progression I don’t think this would be necessary, but this would be a good QoL change.
The fact that challenges are the only way to progress and people have limited time makes a challenge like this the real issue. It’s a challenge that doesn’t have an obvious end goal that will take a set amount of time. It’s essentially a complete so many games and get so many kills per game challenge or complete so many games and do objectives depending on what playlists the challenge is in. Which also brings me to the next issue of playlist/game type specific challenges. With them forcing you to play a specific playlist or game type it’s making it so that people are never playing the same thing or what they want all the time. That really sucks the fun out of playing the game that you’re wanting to play if you’re not able to play the part of the game you want to play unless you don’t care about progressing the battle pass which is basically the only thing you have to do besides just playing the game. It’s a series of issues that force people to not play together in a game that is meant to be social and always feels far too competitive. It’s pushing you to complete challenges and do well in those games while playing to try to finish them as quickly as possible so you’re not wasting your time, but the game is also trying to make it a super competitive space so that you can’t just complete these challenges quickly. It all adds up to a whole bunch of time wasted with a side of frustration without much progress being made.
I look at it in terms of kills. If you can get at least ten kills per game, you’re probably doing alright. Then add in assist and obj. score and you’ve get yourself a good pace.
I’m sorry but not all of us have all the free time in the world. I have work and a home to work on and maintain as well as other life responsibilities. My free time is very limited meaning that challenges that “may” take more time than expected to finish create an issue for those who do not have much time to enjoy they’re off time.
These aren’t excuses. Instead of trying to deflect criticism and pin the blame on the player, maybe you could trying putting yourself in their shoes.
Who would want to go from earning XP based on match performance to earning for completing challenges? On the surface, it may not seem like a big deal. When the game is setup like this, you end up feeling limited in the ways you’re able to earn progress.
You aren’t rewarded for doing good in a match. You’re rewarded for playing the game the way it wants you to and that’s what’s killing the fun.
That’s nice
I can play other games all the time too and then complain about not having enough time to complete challenges either. Should I be asking for a button to just unlock everything when I click it? Since I too didn’t set aside enough time to play halo too!
I don’t mind cumulative scores challenges, as long as it’s not fixed to a particular mode. At least you can then vary it up and not feel the monotony of the grind if it’s a mode you despise
At one time I had all the time in the world and I got to 50 in H2 and H3. Even inheritor in Reach. Then i got work and a family. You know what happened? To balanced my life I stopped chasing after max ranks and completions. No point in sweating the digital stuff if i did not have time for it. It’s not even a big deal to begin with.
