Before in capture the flag, being the flag carrier wasn’t a role, it was just an option. You could drop the flag, and bail out at any time. Now in Halo 4 the role of the flag carrier is now, funny enough an actual role. Once you decide to pick up that flag, there is no turning back, you are the flag carrier. The person who takes the flag from A to B. You can’t simply drop it, just as you can’t simply drop your job in real life for eg and have a day off of work for no good reason.
It’s a new game and the dynamics of it have changed, and in my opinion for the good. Whenever there is a change people with dispute it and criticize it, no matter how small or big it is. Are these changes appearing to be a problem? No. Do they appear to break the game? No. Does it appear to make the game worse? No. All it means is now you can’t act like a -Yoink- in CTF anymore. You picked up the flag in a bad situation, and can’t get out of it? Your fault, you can’t run away now, but you can defend yourself. You are the vital role of the flag carrier.
With Halo 4’s sprint, having the ability to drop the flag and RUN away would be a catistrophicly annoying problem in the game, which people would, again, complain about even more. You are not making the game. You all have no clue why these changes were made, and what implications they have, and what would happen if they weren’t in place. I bet most of you havn’t even played the game yet, thus you have no reason to complain. Even if you have played it and found a problem with it, 10 minutes of playing at PAX or whatever event it was at is not enough time to put a judgment on every mechanic of the game, although most of those people have had nothing but positive things to say.

Sometimes you gotta take a “day off work” because your friend is hurt and you gotta go rough up the guy who hurt him…
If you get what I’m saying

The Flagnum unofficial running song
I would be so annoyed if people could drop the flag and sprint away immediately, but I imagine a cooldown for dropping the flag would have been a good solution.
Nevertheless, I’m approaching this as a new gamemode and I’m going to employ new strategies, seeing as how it is a new take on CTF - not a replacement for traditional - just as Infinity Slayer is.

And your employeer says “You’ve already taken too many ‘days off work’ from all the other times, now you can’t take anymore days off”. Ahaha joking. But really, that’s what the game is like now, you can easily revenge your friend wilst carrying the flag though…

Kinda pointless to make a new one anyway
Ive played at RTX and PAX. This new CTF isn’t CTF anymore. Now that being said i love it, but its not CTF its a whole new gametype its like VIP and CTF mixed in one. But we still should have the old Classic CTF as well. It was a big part of halo and should still be there even with the new game types. FYI the flag can be picked up accedintally in situations. saw it a few times at PAX myself. So it is an issue even being it a small one. You don’t need to play the game to get a solid understanding of things. Watch enough footage and you can pick up on things.
Granted playing the game can gain perspective. But not much. So the whole you haven’t played it argument is a dead horse thats been beaten too much. To close out my post you did come off as kind of a jerk. Not judging you but if you want positive responses You should try to be more polite and informational.

Yeh but then people would complain about the cool down XD.
And that is a good way to go about the changes.

I made a new thread because this addresses the issue in a brand new way, which deserves it’s own thread.
