As most will be aware 343 has controversially introduced simultaneous side arm wielding whilst carrying the flag. The implication of this I’m sure is being hotly debated but I could not help but think this feature would do wonders for a potential CTF SWAT gametype.
Gametypes like CTF and Assault were never really viable for SWAT in previous Halo games because the Flag/ Bomb carrier are far too vulnerable for it to work (Oh and please no one mention speed flag because it sucked). Giving the Bomb/ Flag carriers the ability to use their pistol whilst still losing some mobility I think will be the perfect way to balance it.
I think it would be great if more gametypes are integrated with SWAT maybe only as an occasional switch up because Slayer is SWAT’s bread and butter but I think it would be awesome non he less.
So do you like the Idea of having more objective gametypes in the SWAT playlist? And if so what game types would you like to see?
The carrier is still slow, and vulnerable to one hit in the head. However I do see your where you are coming from

Weather its Swat or Squad DLC or any playlist with both Slayer and Objective in, most just want to slay.
So won’t be too much of a good thing I think.
Plus what if the Pistol carrying and Oddball throwing are gametpe specific, there may be a classic version like with Slayer and Infinity Slayer.
Basically I see it as a rare to play gem of a gametype

Agreed Objective gametypes were pretty woeful in Reach, it is difficult to put a finger on as to why, 343 have a job on their hands to revitalise them.

I think it is because of the new voting system, Slayer was always top and so had priority in draw cases.
Also the ability for player to decide rather than have one scenario shown to you and giving you the possibility to gamble it brings out the true side of players.

I can put every reason why objective in Reach sucks into one word: Credits.
That’s an awesome idea. I love to play SWAT with my friends and this would bring so much teamwork to SWAT, and it’s perfect with the magnum sidearm as you carry the flag.

I see where you’re coming from - and mostly agree;
To offer a different perspective though; its current form enhances the ‘team’ aspect, the objective carrier has to be more focused and/or careful - while his/her team have to focus on protecting them.

Firstly welcome to the forums she be a temperamental mistress but I think on the most part a pleasant place.
Very valid point and for vanilla CTF in particular I am actually sceptical about this new feature because it could potentially mean a flag carrier could be engaged and not give away their position to the opposite team because they had to drop the flag to defend themselves. The assailant in question might not have a mic and can’t call out the flags position. I hope they introduce a feature where shooting the flag carrier causes an indicator to appear over the flag visible to both teams.
/me finds it intoorestink that OP doesn’t like speedflag, yet wielding a pistol while carrying a flag is pretty much speedflag- these exact settings could be made very easily in reach- and better, without bloom on the pistol too.
I do like the idea of having more objective gametypes in SWAT. SWAT is an incredibly fun gametype and I think all the new changes to the objective gametypes (holding pistol while carrying the flag, Being able to toss the oddball short distances) would make for some very fun experiences, especially in SWAT.
